Valve Cover Issues!!!

Okay, after cleaning all the gunk out from under the hood, I drove home (about 12 miles) and when I got home the top of the motor was covered with oil. After looking everything over I found a small piece of metal missing from the oil filler hole where the ears of the oil filler cap go into the valve cover. I used some RTV to fix the leak and started looking for a replacement valve cover. For some reason, no one makes one that will fit everything stops at 87 and starts back at 93. Mines a 1990 that came from the factory with a aluminum valve cover that has about 12 bolts around it. And an inline 4.2, if anyone has a good parts resource I would be very appreciative! I`ve tried JC Whitney, and Collins Bros. but I`m still loking!

i have a 4.2 valve cover from my 87. you're welcome to it, pm me if interested.

If its the 4.2 you can use one from any 4.2 they are all the same engine as long as its the inline...

Thanks guys , but from what Ive been told at Collins Bros. There was some kind of change up mid 1987 thru mid 1990. And just my luck I got caught in the middle of all that!
If either of you guys have one that has 11 or so bolt holes in it I would love to do buy one, especially after ordering one already that does`nt work from Collins Bros.( That one has only 7 bolt holes!) And I lost the cost of shipping when I returned it to them!

Dude check autozone or napa I get all my parts from there and they ask if its a 90 because I tell them I cant seem to get it anywhere else and they have them on hand. Or liquid gasket

I still haven`t had much luck! But I did manage to get some RTV to seal the hole as a temporary fix! Still looking for a new one!!!

11 or 12 bolts? i have a few valve covers laying around. the bottom one is from an 87 4.2 and its aluminum. but it has 15 bolt holes like all the valve covers i have laying around.

probably not worth the shipping. i would let them go for next to free, if you think you have a use for 22 yr old springs. can be used to make a full lengt add a leaf i guess.

87YJWrangler 03-05-2009 09:20 PM

Um never mind lol, got anything else like a clutch or maybe a set of seats for cheap? Or stock bump stops

jpdocdave 03-05-2009 09:26 PM

what is it with you and those bump stops. forget about them.

i'm undecided about my seats, i'll probably re use them.

i have d30 shafts i just put u joints in, and the rest of the axle waiting for scrap, as well as the non c clip d35 waitin for scrap. lots of stock engine and driveline parts from a few 4.0 and 4.2 jeeps. some 4 banger d shafts and t case main shafts.

87YJWrangler 03-05-2009 09:27 PM

You should have a list of parts you have, so we can maybe take them off your hands

87YJWrangler 03-05-2009 09:29 PM

jpdocdave 03-05-2009 09:30 PM

i've done it and no one responded. let me know what you need.

87YJWrangler 03-05-2009 09:34 PM

Um Clutch, front wheel hubs (just bearing but I heard you cant buy just the bearing), Front U joints, instructions on how to go from hydraulic to mechanical clutch, brake lines and the list goes on but Im to damn broke to buy any of it

jpdocdave 03-05-2009 09:37 PM

ya bearing is the whole hub assembly, my old ones aren't worth using, same with u joints. u joints are cheap though.

87YJWrangler 03-05-2009 09:38 PM

Yeah U joints are like $12 Hub is like $120
