First time wrangler owner, not great so far...

Well I bought a jeep wrangler, love the jeep and not really major problems except for the blown HEAD GASKET... Guy didnt tell me about that before i bought it and couldnt even tell till i changed the oil and then checked it a couple of days later. It's not good when it looks like a milkshake on the dipstick.

uhoh, possible cracked head to, make sure you have it tested when off.

that was my other question, how often does it have a cracked head??? I mean with a iron head and it being so short it would have had to been beat to hell to crack the head right???

there was a problem with a certain casting number, common to crack. i don't remember the number off hand though. i didn't see the 4 banger part though, thats a little less common, still worth the money to get tested and resurfaced.

I bought my 92' yj off of some dude and he didnt tell my anything about the four thousand things wrong with my jeep. It was my first jeep. If you don't know what to look for, then you learn about it, if you don't want to learn about it then you sell it. LOL Good luck with it. The learning is half the fun.

If it is cracked you may not be able to see it. My stock 2.5 went from 89-00 with 142,000 miles and died with a hairline crack in the head and about 70psi compression in the 4th cylinder.

cracked head could be caused by a casting defect or weak spot but not likely.
Also could be from severe overheating or detonation.
