Just say NO to 3" Body Lifts
Here's a good example of why you should not use a 3" Body Lift and also hooking your tow strap to the factory roll cage as a towing point..... what were they thinking.....:bottom:

Still funny... lol

cavediverjc 02-27-2009 10:54 AM

Don't feel bad for reposting it, I've never seen it. That's some sad stuff there. Funny, but sad since it's the death of a Jeep. I'm sure it can be put back together, but his buddies will NEVER let him live THAT down!!! He may as well take her out to the back 40 and bury her....

dwdrums801 02-27-2009 11:38 AM

ooooooo that was painful to watch

nater344 02-27-2009 11:44 AM

Not the smartest group of guys! That is why you shouldn't drink and wheel!!

booger 02-27-2009 11:50 AM

I wouldn't say thats a reason to say no to 3" body lifts I have had many rigs in the past that have had 3" body plus suspension and have never had any problems. That body would rip off from he frame regardless if there was a body lift or not. I don't know what the hell this guy was thinking I would never try and tow my jeep from the roll cage I don't know if the roll cages in jeeps are attached at the body to frame locations or just bolted to the body I've never really looked at them. I welded my roll cages to the frame in my past 4 wheel rigs but still, I wouldn't try and tow my truck from 4 feet of mud buy just the roll cage it would bend regardless of how strong it is this guy is a dumb a$$ for trying something like this.

That jeep was a casualty of the Darwin Awards theory. :banghead:

The video is not just the reason to say NO to a 3" BL... in general, there should be no reason to use or want a 3" BL

If you don't like three inch body lifts because of looks thats fine I'll agree with you that it does look like crap when someone sticks a three inch body lift on a truck and doesn't relocate the bumpers and cover up the gaps but I have used body lifts for over fifteen years and never seen or had a problem with them. Every body lift that I ever put on I did it the right way and it looks fine if you just need some extra tire clearance. I personally wouldn't do just body alone though your really not gaining any ground clearance just making your wheel wells bigger for larger tires.

perfect time for a frame off rebuild:rofl::banghead:

Call me crazy, but what direction were they trying to pull it out. it looked as if they honestly thought they would be able to drag the jeep sideways all the way out of the mud. i'm not surprised they ripped the top off.
