spring rate?

anybody know the spring rate on REs 5.5" rear tj coil.....we are trying to figure out what spring to use on a buddies cj to 4 link it.....lemme know

I looked a bit and the RE spring rates seem to be a real pita to find but from what I read I believe the spring rate for the rear coils should be between 200 and 220 lbs/in. There was not an exact number besides for the front TJ coils that are 3.5 and 4.5" so I derived those numbers based on what would closely match the front springs (240 and 219 lbs). Hope that helped but I couldnt nail down an exact figure.

does RE still offer decent customer service where they can answer your question over the phone? I havn't talked to them since 1999 when they first began selling their longarms. the phone reps were pretty knowledgable back then at least.

called RE and found out the spring rate is 242lbs

GrnTJ 03-03-2009 05:15 PM

Wow, thats a little stiffer than I had imagined it would be.

i guess thats why my 5 year old springs are yet to sag

GrnTJ 03-04-2009 08:09 AM

Yea, suppose that can be a good thing. No one likes them when they're saggy:D

When I ordered my coils from F.O.A. the website has a calculator to figure spring rate.
