I just found this on www.gear.jeep.com website. Sure looks like a Poison Spider bumper to me! Kinda cool! I'm sure someone can identify the tire/wheel combo.
Thought it was interesting where they put all the stickers/decals.....never seen that before.
And check out the roll cage....that ain't factory!

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Thats an axial SCX10 R/C car.

They are pretty capable RC Cars

Axial Racing - SCX10

according to axials site they are WALKER EVANS RACING WHEELS, and MAXXIS TREPADOR tires

Lowerumble 09-03-2013 01:36 PM

Yeah poison spyder sells their own tricked out ones too. They even have a KOH build one I think.

Big Fran 09-03-2013 05:43 PM

How fast do these things go and how long do the batteries last?

Sure...

It has an SCX10 chassis and axles with modded long arms. It has a New Bright hard body painted white.

Depends on a few things. Of the Axials the wraith is the fastest of this group, it is a "rock racer" SCX10 is a "Scale Crawler" meaning made to look like a full size rig. and the AX10 is just a crawler, looks similar to a buggy, but not really true to scale. And then they have a comp crawler I believe too.

Then it depends on type of battery, gear ratios, motor etc. My son has a stock wraith, and was running a 3000mah ni-cad battery. It was quick enough for him (5 years old) at probably 7mph and lasted 15-20 minutes. I just switched it over to a much smaller Lipo 3s 1000mah it is a little quicker, and last 20 minutes or so. But this battery is small enough I was able to relocate it to where a radiator would be. And this also allows it to crawl better.

If you want speed, I am sure 123Jato has some info, considering he has Jato in his name I believe those will do 50+ mph with a lipo and brushless motor

Oh boy, this sounds like another expensive hobby... maybe I should quit reading now!

Yes, this does appear to be a neat thing. Lots of video on Youtube. Here is a good one I found.

Ha. I don't know if anyone else watched the video, but spoiler alert.... The Toyo is the only one that doesn't make it.

It is but it is a blast!

Fun to bring out on the trail or at the end of the day.
I have two Wraiths, one for the son (slow but capable) and mine... basically a mini ULTRA4 race car.

Initially it is somewhat, but once you have a few things they can be used for other new RC Cars it really is not. For instance a radio and spare receivers and decent servos, you are good to go. I have upgraded my PS Wraith to the max with VP items but out of the box you don't have too, you can enjoy any of these RC Cars stock for a while. I have been into the RC HOBBY for well over 25 years, and nothing is more expensive than RC HELI'S, and i did that for about 5 years. At one point i had 15 grand in heli's in my Heli room. NO MORE heli's for me.....Although i still 3D other friends Heli's.:iamhappy:

Rancho 09-05-2013 01:24 PM

Good advice. My first was a Wraith RTR, broke lots, learned lots, invested lots. Sold it to a buddy at a loss (like a Jeep, but had fun with it) and bought a BUILT (VP, Tekin, Holmes, every bell and whistle) and now I am "done".. but I do like these JK bodies... :beerdrinking:YES A beer smilie!

I've been into RC for 30 years. I still build planes, cars and trucks. I have heli's but only had luck with them on the sim.

You are correct my friend. Mine do around 55-65mph. But I sold all but 2 to fuel my "real Rc car"(my jeep) upgrades. But the only two that I kept were for speed, and I like the idea of a crawler. It would be fun to build one up to match my jeep exactly, but I would rather spend my time and money on the real thing at this time.

Lowerumble 09-07-2013 04:58 PM

So what is the low down on the ones that do 50+? Is Jato a brand? Are they gas powered or electric? And what are you looking at $ wise to get into one?

Axial SCX10, Proline 2Dr body painted to match my real Jeep. Vehicle is stock except for the wheels and tires. Tires are Proline Super Swampers TSL, wheels are some weighted beadlocks, I found on Amazon. They were a pain to put together, but fit, work and look good. Vanquish led light bar on their Poison Spyder style light mounts. Front bumper is a Tough Armor stubby. I will be getting their rear bumper and tire carrier sometime. I mainly just play with it in the yard, nothing serious.

Jato was the name of a gas powered one that I loved that did 65. Electric has now surpassed gas Rc cars so I sold all gas ones. They do not look like jeeps, But their own little class of vehicles.

For an electric one that does around 60-70mph you are looking at $350-400 for truck, $70 on a battery and $100 for a charger.

Ok, so I did a little research and targeted two used Thunder Tiger MT4 GT3 last night on ebay and they both sold already. So I was going to post links and ask opinions, but apparently I am too late. What is your opinion on a used rig vs new and on that Thunder Tiger model? I will grab a Jeep later too, but for now I just want something to play with in the dirt and grass around my house...

amcjeep 09-08-2013 06:31 PM

quickly reading some comparisons between that and a Revo on line, it seems like a pretty good machine. But I am not sure with the speed of some of these things, especially a brushless lipo set up is for "just playing around the yard" You usually need a pretty descent size area to have it up to speed and control it safetly with out hazards.

Look at videos of cars that interest you on youtube, see if they fit what you think your style will be
