Building the perfect Tube Door

Im sure some of you know that I have a friend that builds tube doors(Full Circle Fab), and that I own a pair. I dont want you to think this thread is trying to push for sales, just ideas/suggestions.

What are some of your guys ideas on building the perfect tube door?

- I think the door pin should be threaded so that people cant walk off with them.
- The latch design is solid(no rattles), but the autoloc bear claw does take a little time to swap strikers out. Does anyone know the actual size of the factory TJ striker? Perhaps a company makes an assembly that would mate well?
Autoloc Bear Claw(currently used):

stainless laser cut design(previously used):

- A mirror mount possibly? i know most people dont have mirror relocation brackets and in some places you HAVE to have mirrors. I found some pics from a guys custom XJ tube doors that I liked:

Personally, I LOVE the design. I met Matt when I was buying a pair of these(ebay local pickup), He has my $200(:flipoff:) so you cant say I didn't already think these were the best doors out there. Anyone think the design need changing?

...basically whats going to make these more appealing to the general market?

thanks guys:punk:

Got a link to his site? nice looking doors. Do they have a door stop?

NalinMFG 03-04-2009 11:54 AM

I'm in the process of SLOWLY building his site right now, here is the TJ tube door page.

he does have a door stop, but a good point on that is that it dosnt include a strap to go with it. i know it can be a hassle to get the factory one on/off.

ive been trying to reseach other tube door companies to see what all they offer... his still seems to be the best deal going, but there is ALWAYS room for improvement.

What is the point of running tube doors? Not knock em but I don't see the point in my mind. They look cool tho!!

there's your answer :D (jk)

what kind of answer do you want?:
"Tube doors give you the ultimate in trail visibility while providing the protection you need"

or:
to be honest...i mean there's not a TON of off road benifit, i have however had times that they have been used as sliders on trees...nothing compared to rockers though!

seriously though, they keep you in alot better than no doors if you have an accident or roll over(some places you have to have some type of door on to be legal). On the road I feel alot safer with them, they provide a place to rest your arm, people not used to doorless jeeps arent as scared to ride;), Oh! if you have younger kids that ride up front...

If you're gonna get tube doors, its probably because you:
A) like how they look
B) HAVE to have doors
C) you want the trail visibility with added some protection
or...D) none of your friends have them:punk:

Maybe it's the angle of the pics, but my only suggestion is to raise the middle portion of the upper tube. Either due to the angle of the pics, or due to the shape of the vertical support, it looks as if something was dropped on the top of the upper tube bending it down. It's look better if it followed the body line of the rear section of the tub, similar to a half door.

My worthless .02, adjusted to inflation, .01.

One thing he may want to think about is fabbing them so he can put storage bags on them. Like High Rocks bags.

I think for them to be more than just for looks they need to have another down tube comig from the upper hinge to the bottom of the down bar on the rear of the door. The way they are right now A. If they took a rock it would crush and B. If you leaned over into something it'll go right thru the door and fawk up the dash. If people care enough to have then then it should be more functional than for looks.

Brilliant! :punk:

I like my switch plugged into the fuse. I just reach down ifo the t-case shifter and flip it to the left and my dome light goes off. I hate having to pull the fuse and I made the switch for about $6.
