I have my output seal removed, the housing extension was knicked and was letting oil drip past the seal, so I ordered a new one. It comes with a new bushing and I ordered the seal as well. Has anyone ever replaced these parts? I wonder how hard it will be to get the bushing in place and the new seal with out doing any damage. If you have any tips I would appreciate the help. This transfer case is on a 1991 YJ (rear output)

I have the Chilton manual, it dose not give instructions as to technique. It's a tight fit and I don't want to damage the bushing or new seal installing them. Thank you for the scan offer though.

I have had to bevel the edge of the new seal to get it started straight then used a big socket to drive it in place. the bushing should be installed with a bushing driver but have used a punch before(not recommended)

try freezing the seal. we used to do that to bearings we replaced on helicopters.

OK, it's done. Everything went good. The end extension came with the bushing installed (Thank God) I used the old extension to drive the seal in with a block of wood and a 3 pound hammer, BANG and it was perfect. You do need to pay attention to the extension housing, it looks like it will fit in any postion but not so, the deep groove inside needs to be left of the botttom bolt as your looking toward the front.I think I'm ready for summer:)
