did i blow out my rear?

i have 1992 TJ, 33's 4I.

driving it home one day, after some trail riding. a "pin like thing" came out of the rear axle, one mile to home ( at the time did not know it came out ). it felt like someone hit the brakes as hard as they could. it stop on a hill, when in neutral the jeep did not go backwards. I'm about to buy a rear, but someone said that if i can push it out of my garage, i did not blow it out. i can push it out very easily.

There are some bolts on your diff cover that keep you out. Take off those bolts and remove the diff cover. Look inside. Problem solved.

Well there's your problem. Your workin on one of those kwirky 1992 TJ's. I'd sell it and go with a 1992 YJ. The rear axles on the 92 TJ's are notorious for this problem! Hehe!:blunt:

Came out as in blew out the diff cover? If so you may just need new gears and a carrier. Then again.. you should also see how much the cost would be to upgrade the whole axle to something stronger like a dana 44, ford 8.8 or heck even a ford 9".
