My Hardtop glass blew off

I was cruising down the highway doing about 70 and the right rear glass just blew off of the hardtop of the Jeep. I was like WTF?????????????

It shattered in the road, Called Jeep and it's under warranty so I'm good but, cumon !!!!!

Anyone else have this issue?

Maybe it got hit by a rock. I was driving in my jeep with the window down and my targa top off and somehow I managed to get hit in the face by a good size pebble (enough to spyder my sunglasses). I know it is a stretch but who knows....Or maybe it was those extra washers you put on the bolts that secure down the hardtop that just stressed out the window causing it to shatter! Well just be happy it wasnt a turkey to your windshield.

Turkey? hahahahaa, no dude, nothing hit it, the glue gave way and it flew off

jgano23 03-11-2009 08:23 AM

seriously??? i have never heard of that happening, especially not on a new vehicle.

^

Blame it on poor quality control by the Chinese.

Uh. wait. Jeeps are American made.

You didn't by chance release an overly large air biskit with the windows up, subsequentially pressurizing the cabin causing the window to blow out. Dealer might try and claim that to get out of replacing it.

I cant quit laughing!!!

something like that happened to me 2 years ago....

i was driving home from moab in my truck, which has a shell. the rear windows in the shell open outward. i turned off the 4x4 road where we were at and got on the highway. well as soon as i got going.... BOOOM! all i see is my poor dog scared shitless and my window gone!

haha it only takes me a few seconds to realize what had happened.
what are the chances a dumb rock would come shooting out from my tire and happen to go straight up into my window ? apparently good.

so anyways, i pulled over at the next gas station and cleaned up the mess, and made a barrier so my dog wouldnt escape, and went on my way.

still crazy though! i wont be forgetting that for a while.

Lol i remember when this happened to me on my YJ, expect my glass didnt break amazinly everyone cracked there heads because of the noise, i added PL to stick mines back in, to realize later i could have used new weatherstrips.

i have heard of this before but it was something to do with having the front tops off and the windows up. had to do with air pressure in the jeep

Glue was made in USA. Jeep top was UAW made. I guess this is what they mean when Consumer Reports says the Wranger "reliability" is a negative 80 or pretty much bottom of the list.
