New Jeep owner leak question.

I have a 98 wrangler sport soft top with full doors. I have fixed several leaks using this great forum but I have one left to find The floor behind the drivers side seat is very wet after a hard rain but ther is not any signs of water coming from the front or down the fenders carpet is dry in these areas. I have checked the floor plugs and they are all in place. Any help would be greatly appreciated

are the plugs cracked or loose

Plugs are in good shape. It has rained all day checked jeep when I got home floor a little wet and the seam where fender joins floor was wet. Im not sure if it is coming from there or from back and running down. I will silicone seam just in case. I think it is coming from back and running down. I might not have top on exactly right had it off for first time a day or two before rain started gotta love East Tn weather 80 one day 40 next day and raining.

I had the same problem last week after 3 days of rain. All of my carpet was wet in the back, however my fllormats were dry on the top side and my seats were dry. The largest amount of water was directly behind the driver's seat. i cannot find were the water is coming from.

One way to solve this problem is to get in the Jeep (wearing your favorite beach attire) , and have your wife or other good friend stand outside with a hose pointed up in the air. Have her (or good friend) direct the water stream toward the roof area in the vicinity of the alleged leak. While in the vehicle with the water coming down on the roof, search frantically for a leak. Well .... I guess this is how I would do it. Pretty technical huh ...:p

I have the same problem with my '98 Sahara. I have only noticed the problem with my hard top on; doesn't seem to happen with soft top, although I've only owned it since October, and only run it with the soft top for about 2 months. My problem areas are the floor behind the driver's seat, and a little bit in the rear cargo area, and it seems to happen when it sits outside in heavy or extended rain; not from driving in rain.

I'm at a loss - can't find any obvious gaps when the top is on, and the plugs are intact.

That's EXACTLY how it's done in a shop. When I had the rear window in my T/A convert re-done, that's how the shop checked it.

Same problem here, let us know what you find out after you hose it down.

Um, this is a really old thread. It would probably be best if you did the hosing yourself and reported what you find. ;) Likely the top isn't installed properly. If you can figure out where it's leaking from, then we can help you fix it. :)
