Couple questions about Group offroading

Hey guys, I'm from Eastern Pennsylvania and as a first time Jeep owner I have a few questions about what Jeeps are made for. Okay here they are:

1. When you go offroading with a group how long are you out for?

2. Are there trails to go offroading on or do you make your own?

3. Do you camp out somewhere?

4. How do you know when there is a group going out in your area?:)

They are pretty stupid questions but I'm really excited about going offroading and seeing everything possible.

most of these things are decided by the group going.

1. it could be for a few hours or a few days.

2. the trails that you ride are usually pre-existing. make sure you never make you own trail, unless it is on your own property or you are absolutely sure that you are allowed to.

3. camping is usually decided by the group. at the Rauch Creek trip this weekend in PA some of us are going to cam and other are staying at a local hotel.

4. whenever my group is going on a trail ride i plan on posting a thread to let everyone know.

It can range from and few hours to several days. It depends on how far away it is and who is putting the run / trip together.

Always stay on established trails..... Tread lightly!

It depends on the nature of the trip (see #1). I've been on trips where we camped on the trail and I've been on trips where we set up a base camp with the motorhomes and day tripped to different trails.

You need to do a little research and find a club in your area. Search on the internet or ask at your local offroad store. I'm a member of a Jeep club and I also wheel with people I've met here on WF. In fact, there are three groups from WF going out this weekend in different parts of the country. WF Westside is having a Meet & Greet in the So. Cal desert. We have 10 members of Wrangler Forum attending.

Here is a link to a directory of offroad clubs - North-East region. Check it out and see if there is a club local to you.

The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked..... Welcome to the forum. There are lots of great people here to help answer your questions. Perhaps you'll be lucky like I was and find a few new friends here to go wheelin' with.

Yeah, I'm really excited and would love to camp out and stuff. I just need to check the skid-plates and such before because I'm not sure if they are rusted too much. I live near Newtown PA if any of you are going close to there.

I'm in West Chester moving to Philly, so you have plenty of people around to help you out ant show you the ropes. The Jeep Jamboree is coming to the pine barrens in Jersey from what I heard that is a must go for all jeepers at least once a lifetime.

Welcome to WF... and greetings from the Poconos.

Rausch Creek is a great - local - legal place to ride. It's off rt. 81 near Schuylkill.
