Lift Suggestions

When I get my new Jeep, should I keep the same Rough Country Suspension on it or swap it with another cheap lift??

Any suggestions on another lift?

Thanks
Nuke

I think Rough Country is the "cheap lift"

Bignuke 03-27-2009 10:16 PM

What do you think would be the next best bet?

afrats 03-27-2009 10:32 PM

What's wrong with the RC lift?

flattietj 03-27-2009 10:43 PM

rough country lifts are as cheap and incomplete as they come....im not looking for an argument or a description of how well your RC lift rides but i am askin you to not only compare prices of the lift kits and what they actually come with.....and then sit back and ask yourself why? is htis kit 400 buck cheaper.....oh b/c i should be buying another 400 bucks worth of stuff

Bignuke 03-27-2009 10:46 PM

I have driven in it, it drives well for me... But i've only driven 3 jeeps, I just want to know whether or not I should get rid of it and switch it or just keep it? I would also like to know if they are good for offroading?

afrats 03-27-2009 10:54 PM

If it works I would wait. I'm sure there are other things that money could be spent on.

Bignuke 03-27-2009 10:59 PM

That's what I was thinking. Thanks.

i started out with a 2 in pa body lift and a 2 in rough country spacer lift
and 32's over 6 years ago:cool:neo

Bignuke 03-29-2009 08:27 PM

Yeah, I was thinking about getting my 3 inch body lift off and maybe getting 33's with the suspension lift I have... I don't know what it is though yet...

first thing you have to do is wheel ur jeep... learn its strong points and its downfalls... then depending on what you learn from experience then decide on what kind of jeep you want to build... your lift may be fine for what you do or it may be inadequate..

There's a sticky on this at the top of the section (TJ Lifts)

i would just keep the current lift and upgrade the crappy components..

trackbars, control arms, shocks.. the coils would be the last thing i replace..

heck i bought a 2'' procomp lift.. only came with coils and shocks.. the only part of it still under my rig are the front 2'' coils.. i dont have aftermarket control arms yet so i took the rear ones out and running my stockers.. my acos lift it more tho..

i bought a jks trackbar for the front, some jks discos and jks rear adjustable swaybar endlinks

Did you ever figure out what size lift it is? Is it a 6" short arm or a 4" short arm?

That kit is identical to the piece of crap $499 RC kit

Bignuke 03-31-2009 07:22 PM

I don't know what it is yet, but I should in the next week or so... Payments are running slow for me, trying to sell my current car... Taking too long! It does look like a 4" to me.

jdhallissey 03-31-2009 07:28 PM

Stick with the current lift and just save up for some ome's to toss in it. Would make a world of difference.

Bignuke 03-31-2009 07:38 PM

Ok. The Old Man Emu shocks? How much would they run for my jeep?

jdhallissey 03-31-2009 07:48 PM

like 65-80 each depending on were you go. so looking at 400 bucks.
