Lift, Wheels, & Tires on - Pics

1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport

How it looked when I bought it in 2006 with a 2" BB and 33x12.50 tires.

Shortly after, I bought the Bushwacker fender flares and Warrior Products Diamond plate side panels.

I finally figured out why everyone says you never really finish building your Jeep.

A couple months ago, I decided I wanted to lift my Jeep 4" because the 2" budget boost was not giving my 33x12.50's enough room to breathe. So I bought the 4" Rough Country suspension lift. I know, it is a cheaper lift, but I got what I can afford and so far have not had any problems with it other than it rides Rough.

So about a week ago I got brand new Mickey Thompson Classic II rims and brand new Dick Cepek Mud Country 33x12.50x15 tires.

those mirrors are homemade. I used some mirrors that i found at autozone (look like big blind spot mirrors) and bolted them to an aluminum tube and bolted them through the hinge. I can send you some pics of them if you want.

yes, i do still have them. They started having a little bit of rust on them and i got a good deal on the m/t so i decided to just buy some new ones. they are awc 8 spoke steel wheels. i plan on selling them but i'm just going to sell them with the tires instead of spending more money to have the tires taken off the wheels. 2 of the tires have about 50% of the tread left, the other 2 are pretty worn out. i can send you some pics if you're interested.

You have a PM...

Nice Jeep !!!

IMO square lamps on a Jeep with round headlights donīt look very good..
Perhaps you could need some 0.5-1" spacers on the front springs to level it out..

Warpman89 03-30-2009 03:08 PM

is that the new x-series rc lift? with adjustable control arms all around? how was the the install? looks great

well, yeah you are right about the lights, they are some cheap ones that were on there when i bought it and never did anything about. about the spacers, i plan on getting the back bumper which will weigh the back down a bit and maybe make it a little closer, if it doesn't, i might have to do that.

no, it is just the standard rc 4" kit. the install was pretty easy other than the rear sway bars did not fit. had to buy some rubicon express sway bars. anyways thanks for the compliment.

if you are feeling up to it and have the time, you could write a review in the sticky "tj lift review" thread above. you already have the pics:punk:

Nice Jeep, great sequence of photos showing its transformation into a beast! If you ever get sick of the stiff ride the RC lift gave, you can always swap the shocks out to a better riding shock that will make a HUGE improvement in ride quality. Skyjacker Hydro, Old Man Emu, Rancho R9000x, and Rubicon Express Monotube are good riding shocks, with the Skyjackers being the least expensive. Just avoid replacing the RC shocks with ProComp ES-3000, Rancho R5000, or Skyjacker Nitro, those ride just as bad as the RC shocks do. :)

Scout 03-30-2009 05:01 PM

x2 on the shocks. I was never really happy with my RC lift but when I added OME shocks it did make a world of difference.

Your Jeep looks good!

Thanks a lot... I figured the shocks would be a relatively inexpensive thing to replace if i needed to. i thought considering i was riding on 10 year old shocks rough country shocks would have to be better, but they're pretty bouncy. i'm probably going to give it a little longer before i decide if i want new ones and if i do, i might buy some ome or re shocks
