Bump stops bottoming out

First off, thanks to everyone for answering my questions about reinstalling my coil springs, now I have a new problem.

Sunday I installed the 2". BB lift on my Jeep and every bump that I hit, my front end jumps off the ground. Upon closer inspection, the extended bump stops are bottoming out and making the front end bounce. These bump stops are aprox. 4 inches long and only about 2 inches from the bottom. This can't be normal can it?

pics. or there isn't really a problem.

Those 4" bump stops are too long for a 2" lift. Whoever installed or recommended them screwed up. :)

I might be wrong but it sounds like your bumpstops are too long when I did my 2" lift I was only going to extend my bumpstops by two inches did those bumpstops come with your lift or did you order it seperately.

Dang jerry. you beat me by less then a minute.

off topic. Nolan. you're sig says v6. the 4.0 is an i6. all your ducks in a row if you know what i mean. no biggie, but less friendly places might pick on you.

cnolan76 04-06-2009 07:54 PM

I bought them from someone who bought them from Tuff Country. They will not exchange anything because I didn't purchase them from the company. Would it hurt to remove them and attack them with a hacksaw? I wouldn't think that wou

cnolan76 04-06-2009 07:55 PM

Thanks Teejay

TeeJay 04-06-2009 08:02 PM

no worries. I'd hack saw them without any reservations. if they get destroyed whats the worst thing that happened? your bump stops that you couldn't use still cant be used? who cares- in the words of Mitch Headberg - "F*** it, cut 'em up!"

cnolan76 04-06-2009 08:08 PM

How long should they be? Should I just cut them in half?

Jerry Bransford 04-06-2009 08:54 PM

The gap between the top and bottom bumpstops should be slightly shorter than the distance between the top of your tire and bottom of the fender flare. :)

Thanks guys, I appreciate it!
