I have a 90 yj and I bought this thing with 31-12.50 tires and I have about 1 to 2 inches of clearance between the tires and fenders I was thinking about a 3 inch body lift. I heard that body lifts are garbage I would like some input on the body lift verse a susp. lift.

i would go with a suspension lift...body lifts are ugly and the mess up linkage and you have to mess with your fan shroud...and i've heard of the body coming off the frame in accidents when people are hit in the rear because of body lifts and they sit so far off the frame

I think a 1 to 2 inch body lift would be ok. I had a 2 inch body lift on a truck, and it was fine. 3 inches wouldn't look so great, I don't think. Personally, I wouldn't go over 1 inch on a body lift. You could just add a leaf and get about another 1.5 inches out of it, which is close to the 3 you want and wouldn't cost you an arm and a leg.
I have always heard about the body of a vehicle slipping off a frame in an accident, but I wonder if that isn't an urban legend. I'm sure that it is possible, but maybe not as likely as the rumors say.

i think hardy1234 on here said he has heard of it before...and i've read about it...a truck with a 3 inch body lift got hit from behind and the body came off onto the car that him him in the rear
and im with a amerijeep, don't go over an inch when you can add a leaf

Use the 1" poly body mount kit from Daystar. It will accomplish what you want with out creating a bunch of problems.

ya it gives new spacers between the body instead of going over the stock ones

I have a 3 inch body lift on my jeep, had one on my ram, and one on my bronco, and one on my dads jeep, never had a problem with them, all of my friends have them, they never had a problem with them. If you dont like the look, buy gap guards, they are 50 bucks, and it takes 30 minutes to install. Body lifts are great and cheap.
