Police: Suspect in custody in murder of photo radar worker

skeeter 04-20-2009 05:23 PM

It says in the article they already have a suspect in custody.
Are you connected to the victim in some way, or just sad that somebody contracted by the city was killed?

I knew him through a friend. We played some golf together. He was a great guy, fun to play golf with. He will be missed in the golfing community

To top off the fact that some fawkin retard decided to do a drive-by on a DPS vehicle, is the fact that the guy owns an Off Road Desert Tour business. So technically he is one of us. I have in fact spoken with the accused on a number of occasion in the desert and at local land use meetings.

Of course innocent til proven guilty, but if it comes out that he in fact did take the shots then I hope they charge him with 1st degree with special circumstances so he can get the injection.

So what's the rest of the story?
The article is irritatingly short on info. Was it a drive by? According to the article, one of the witnesses reported the suspect smelling of smoke. Did the suspect know the victim?
Was this a random attack, or did they have some history?

I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm honestly not trying to start a debate. The second amendment is one of my hot button issues so I try to keep up on incidents like this.

I have no clue. I had played golf with the guy a hand full of times.

Has nothing to do with 2nd Amendment or gun debate Skeet.

Photo Radar van sitting on side of highway Sunday night/Monday morning. Suspects vehicle pulls up slows and fires 5 shots into the Van and then speeds off. Entire incident was caught on streaming video from van. No stills were taken of the vehicles plates because the speed limit had not been broken. Phoenix PD was reviewing streaming video from van when a Lieutenant recognized the vehicle as being a very unique vehicle that he remembers being in the neighborhood he grew up in. So he drives by and see's vehicle speeding past no more than an hour after the incident. Phoenix proceeds to stake out the house and a warrant was issued Monday morning. Vehicle and home were searched and suspect was arrested at that time and vehicle was towed away. Tonights news stated that a weapon of the same caliber as the projectiles found at the scene was recovered from the suspects personal property with 5 bullets missing from the magazine. Also during the suspects arraignment "supposedly" he was overheard as saying he was sorry there was someone in the van.

This is a case of someone being an a--hole about photo radar and deciding to show his a-- and put some rounds in the van that night more than likely not knowing someone was actually in the van working and on the phone with his wife whom he would talk to for the last time ever at that moment. Now I don't like photo radar either, but you won't catch me trying to be a gangbanger and do a drive by on them.
