Attended the 101 course at Rausch this weekend. Kyle was absolutely awesome teaching everything about trail riding. I can't want to get out there again. If anyone is on the fence about taking this class, do it. It's a great way to learn proper technique so you don't damage your vehicle. And it's A LOT OF FUN!!!!

If anyone on here was at the event this weekend, post your pics or videos here.

i was thinking of doing this. i have only been to the Pine Barrens twice. are there any requirements before you go? such as needing a lift, winch, certain tires etc.

Rickss 09-16-2013 08:48 PM

No requirements whatsoever. One guy in our group had the stock 29" tires and did fine. Kyle teaches you all the technique needed for any level jeep. I would definitely recommend taking the class.

Do you need tow points or need to disconnect your sway bars?

Rickss 09-16-2013 09:05 PM

No need to disconnect sway bars. And don't all wranglers have tow points stock?

Leeroy Jeepkins, not all wranglers have tow points, looks like you have a 97? Have a look at your front bumper? any hooks sticking up?
Even if you dont e-mail Kyle@rc4x4.org and see what he advises, he runs the class, i bet you'll be fine, just be more careful than me in the mud pit.

Thanks. I have the ones up front but not in the rear. I also haven't extended amy of my breathers

WallyGator215 09-17-2013 11:33 AM

Great thread. Was thinking about doing the class as I'm new to wheeling. Also my 87 yj is bone stock and I was told that this class is great for beginners

timp 09-17-2013 12:25 PM

Leeroy (great handle by the way) the ones up front are all you might need, your breathers are fine for the class, the water we went through was maybe MAYBE 12" and the mud was less that than. Kyle will tell you 100% stock is 100% fine for the class.
I added a skid plate and rock rails because i like the look of the rails and going forward i wanted a skid plate (i believe the rocks are out to get me..) but i didnt put a mark on ether in the class and they sit lower than that stuff they are protecting.

Looks like a blast. How did that truck do?

Maniak-Mike 09-22-2013 08:44 PM

I'd like to give it a shot. Maybe I can talk some friends into coming down too.
