Oh crap! That's gonna leave a mark...first trail damage. PHOTOS!!

So we went to go play Airsoft today at the local field and before the game began I thought it would be a great idea to test out the Jeep with the new lift and wheel/tire combo. Thing was awesome....until I hit a tree. First trail damage photos. It seemed very capable. The "hill" is a bit steeper than it looks. I was amazed I didn't bottom my skid plate. Pissed about the trail damage, but i'll get over it. After I came down the backside of that hill I turned left to get out to the parking lot area and there was a white Birch tree I didn't see about 8" around. Hit my new (not even wired yet) KC light, and the windshield frame. I thought I cracked the hard top at first. Hope the windshield doesn't leak. I put a bead of silicone inbetween the windshield frame and the rubber windshield cover so I think it will be ok.

Awesome pics man, and that's pretty cool you snagged your Jeep on its first offroad outing. Now the wheeling gets easier since you'll no longer be scared of getting that first trail damage. :punk:

russbow6 04-25-2009 06:48 PM

its like dropping a motorcycle for the first time... you cant really ride it till you drop it.

lift looks great buddy get those lights wired up and maybe next time you'll see the tree... haha jk

jamesbernatchez 04-25-2009 06:49 PM

LOL, I know! I just ordered a replacemet KC Slimlite to replace the one I mangled.

russbow6 04-25-2009 06:55 PM

what shop installed your stuff? if you like the job they did maybe ill bring my stuff by there when it comes in...

jpoutlaw 04-25-2009 07:48 PM

nice pictures

Once again, mother nature won.

Scout 04-25-2009 08:54 PM

That A-pillar looks nasty. :D

daanbc 04-25-2009 09:01 PM

Looks like a good candidate for some corner guards. That'll cover up that ding. But that windseild pillar= now that's a nasty bang. Congrads on braking it in. Glad to see your having fun and taking it in stride. That's what these jeeps are for.

I like it - adds character. I think I'm gonna go drive mine into a tree. :D

How do you like the MTZs? I'm considering those when I step up to 33s.

Also - I love the pic where you on the edge of the hill looking out the window - AWESOME!

350chevrolet 04-25-2009 11:25 PM

ehhhh its a jeep, its made to have dents lol. put a little touch up paint on there and you'll never even see it.

Great Pics, now that you got the damage out of the way the real fun begins!! What size and make lift did you put on it? Looks really good with those tires. At least you didn't pop your windshield, I seem to go through one a year!!

bmanrkg3 04-26-2009 02:42 AM

I too am curious how the window didn't take any damage from that.. yikes...

I took it to SVE Performance in Milford. A friend of mine works there and Bill (the owner) definitely knows his stuff. He had it Wednesday morning and I picked it up Thursday after work.

Love the MTZs. I was running 32 psi in all the tires. Never aired down and never had an issuse. When I first tried going up that hill my rear passanger tire was slipping and I realized I had never disconnected the front sway bar. Once I did that there wasn't anymore slipping.

The lift is a 3" BDS Suspensions lift with the SYE and Tom Wood driveshaft. Drives really nice compared to stock.

I do not have any idea how I didn't crack the windshield, but I am very happy about that! As long as the pillar doesn't leak I can deal with it. On the way home I actually was happy about it. I figured the other Wranglers I wave to can see I actually am using it the right way :punk: .

I did notice when I got home that when I tured to the left and then brought the wheel back to straight there was a clunking noise in front. Turned out to be the track bar mount on the axle. The bolt was loose. Tightened it up and I should be good.

polarscott 04-26-2009 06:46 AM

ouch!

jamesbernatchez 04-26-2009 06:47 AM

Showing the clearance at the top of my hill under my skid. Never touched which I thought was pretty damn good!

Going down said hill.

don't consider it "damage," it's a beauty mark. it distinguished your tj from other ones.

J33P 04-26-2009 10:11 PM

what the hell is airsoft?

The dents look good btw.

jamesbernatchez 04-26-2009 11:25 PM

It is like paintball, but the guns shoot 6mm plastic bb's and the guns are realistic in their looks and feel. They operate like their real steel counterparts (i.e. full auto, semi auto, etc.) www.groundzeroairsoftusa.com if you are curious.

MOz 04-27-2009 06:52 AM

Well, now it's broken in.

Might want to consider a soft top if you plan on adding any more "cosmetic" improvements.
