bumpy road = tailgate opening?
So i drove down a crappy paved road today and i almost got shaken baby syndrome from it but when i got back home i noticed my tail gate was open about 7" but it was still locked...
shut it and tried to lift on the spare and pull back to see if it would open again but it stayed shut... guess i dont have enough muscle

i think you just didnt have it shut all the way. iv never had mine come open no matter how bad the trails are.

it came opened WHILE it was locked ?

Wait what? Open but locked?

Yeah, sounds like it got accidently locked while it was open and when it got "closed" it didn't.

thats my only conclusion.
those things shut pretty darn tight, even with some serious vibrations, id be surprised to see that thing come open with it unlocked.

yeah i had shut it and then locked it... drove down one of our crappy streets here and when i walked around the back it had popped open.

I know something is not right with my tailgate anyway. you have to push really hard to get it to open or close... checked the hinges and they look fine but loosen up with some break free for about a week and then back to being hard to move again.

The stock spare is on there now. No idea what the guy before me had on it.
There is a grove that has been worn in the striker that the tailgate latches to.
Thinking i might get one when i finally make it to the junk yard.
