Sye 2006 tj ?

Is there any benifit/ concern in running transfer case drop with SYE kit installed?

I thought the SYE kit eliminates need for transfer case drop? I had a guy telling me I should put transfer case drop back on because the angle of my shift linkage looked strange (can't engage 4lo). And my rear suspension seemed to be "sagging".

It's a 2006 TJ, 4 inch suspension lift, SYE and cv shaft, rear adjustable control arms.

The SYE does eliminate the need for the TC drop. I have the 05 TJ and I took mine out. And it is great. As long as you have the ADJ control arms. You should be good.

Did you have to adjust your shift linkage after the SYE install?

Relocatedduckman 09-20-2013 02:47 PM

I did not.

Patrick_wesley 09-21-2013 05:05 PM

What kind of SYE do you have?

raramirez 09-21-2013 05:08 PM

You need adjustable control arms with the sye and cv drive shaft for proper angles

The linkage sucks to get working right after lifting best thing to do would be buy a Novak cable shifter and get rid of all that crap you will never have a problem agin and no the whole point of the SYE is to get rid of the TC drop and make things right .

Patrick,

I just put in an Alloy SYE in my 2005. Using the SYE, all my shift linkage remained in the stock location and functioned normally. So just installing a SYE shouldn't have any affect on the selector linkage... Unless you put it back together wrong...

Having said that, jeep used a bunch of plastic bushings all thru the selector linkage. Any one of those breaking or falling out will result in bad or no engagement of various 4 and 2 wheel drive modes.

One thing I learned was a lot of the SYE kits are actually made by the same manufacturer. My Alloy box was also marked Rough Country and OMIX-ADA. So I doubt that the SYE install caused your 4lo engagement problem.

X2, Novak Cable and dont look back.

brs256 09-21-2013 10:48 PM

its because you didn't adjust your tcase shifter after removing the tcase drop .... x3 on the novak ... mine is one of my favorite upgrades, you can feel it shift.

Patrick_wesley 09-22-2013 09:43 PM

After numerous attempts Just can't get the linkage adjusted where it needs to be. Just ordered the Novak cable system, looking forward to it after ready many reviews.

I put the Tereflex Supershort SYE in mine. I am prob going to upgrade my shift cable when I do the tummy tuck, so the 2" Body and MM lift.. I'll do the novak.
