front end axle/wheel assembly rust on brand new jeep

Hello! Proud owner of a brand new 2009 Sahara Unlimited. Just loving it.

I just had this one issue that seems odd to me. I noticed this rust shown in the photos the day I got home from the dealer. The Jeep came off the assembly line in March of this year and only had 8 miles on it when I bought it, so while I know it doesn't impact the mechanical functioning of anything, any kind of rust on something so new seems strange. So, I'm wondering, is this rust normal for a brand new Jeep? I haven't had a chance to go back to the dealer and look at the others on the lot. Only on the front end. The rear is all black, no rust.

Is this how everybody's 4WD Wrangler looks in the front? Thanks!

completely normal, you cannot stop the rust on these parts, it will come almost instantly. it will not rot, or ever fail, thats just normal

Okay, had a feeling that was the case. Just wanted to make sure they didn't forget to treat those parts properly or something. The rest of the Jeep is immaculate. Thanks!

Yeah, it really is weird. Especially considering how visible the area is due to the Jeep's height, so commonly made even more visible by the owner adding a lift. I know it would never effect function, but it sure is ugly on an otherwise beautifully designed and well-thought out vehicle.

I am feeling the same way....miffed. I have never owned any vehicle in my life that has
900 miles on it that looks like it has 90k. My 160k Tahoe (I paid $22k used for it when it had 17k miles) has very little signs of rust, none of my sports cars have any rust whatsoever. I believe it is simple corner cutting & lack of attention to detail. My rear exhaust muffler is rusting and it looks bad to be honest. Why should a brand new owner have to paint and seal their own parts to protect them, ESPECIALLY IN A JEEP that is meant for more offroad and adventure travels that 99.99% of all other vehicles on the road today?

To me it is not just acceptable to say, "It's ok, all Jeeps are like that...."
^ And yeah you could stop the IMMEDIATE rust, if those parts were primed, sealed, painted and protected against the elements....
