Mammoth, CA

I just got my 00 TJ a few months ago and besides local trails this is the first real test. I left on Sunday and came back late Friday. Wish i had more time for such a beautiful place. Reminded me of Colorado. From Ramona, CA to Mammoth i figure at 70-72mph i was getting 14mpg. I am 3mph of the speedo from the tires according to the GPS. Bottom line is for basically a stock TJ, she did amazingly well all around. I think i broke a motor mount but i am not sure. Trying to diagnose that one still. Unfortunately i have more videos than pictures but here is a few from the Laurel Lakes Road. Super fun with lots of shale.
Specs:
2000 TJ
3.5" RE Standard 3.5 Suspension System
33" Tires
TC Drop (Not sure of size but looks like a 2")
Bone stock besides that

One of my favorite areas in the world. There is nothing like the Eastern Sierra's. And of course, Mammoth is a great little town. Beautiful pics!

Beautiful area! We went all the way out to Mount Shasta Cali this past July. Talk about beautiful!!!! It was sooo hard to come back to Indiana.

CA is awesome for off roading because of all the geology that takes place around the fault lines. Beaches and green mountains on one side of the fault. Rocky dry mountains and burning deserts on the other side. The highest and lowest points in the lower 48 states are here and only a couple hundred miles apart.

To bad the state governments sucks the biggest one.

I have been up to Laurel Lakes a couple of times and the views and scenery are beautiful. I just found another trail just a mile or so to the east or actually north off the same Sherwin Road and it was called the Valentine Lake trail head. It took us up a pretty intense trail that ended up looking out over the road up to Laurel on the other side of the valley. I love it up in that entire area.
