Lift question
Ok, I know this is going to sound like a jury rig but I have to ask. Has any one put a 1" spacer on top of a coil lift? Can it be done"

The reason i ask is I don't have the money for a larger lift. I have the pro comp (stage 1) 2" coil lift with pro comp shocks. If it can be done I would like to add a 1"spacer to bring the total lift to 2.5-3". What do you think

I'm not an expert (there will be others to post the official "word") but I personally wouldn't. I'd say if you're in doubt, you probably shouldn't.

As far as I know there should be no problem with this. I did it on my old ZJ. When you out a spacer lift on a stock Jeep, it has coils under it. When you put a spacer lift on a lifted Jeep, it still has coils, but they are just longer. So there is no difference, it should not be a problem or be unsafe. If you wanted to put a three inch spacer lift or something I would say that is unsafe.

The only problem will be new screwed up angles (drveline, steering geometry, etc. that occur whenever you lift your jeep) that will have to be adjusted (adjustable control arms might be needed if not already in use).

I have a 2" budget boost on my other TJ with pro comp shocks and no other suspension or other drive line mods. I can put 32's on it and be ok. For my 97 TJ project, I would like to tun 33's. I should be able to clear them with the 2" coil lift and a 1-1.25 body lift. I was just curious if I could cheat and get an extra inch or so. I might just have to try it, but i would definitely like to everyone's opinion first.

Contra what tires are you running? any body lift to go with it?

I ran a 4" Tera Flex lift for years. When I added a winch, It dropped my front end a little. I then installed a 1" coil spacer up front to level it out. This is what they are made for.

If you have a spare jeep and ones your project. Cut out fenders and run 35's.

Ironman, That was the logic behind my thought. Heres the kicker, if I do it it will give me roughly 2.5-3" of suspension lift. Will I have to do the slip yoke eliminator or drop the transfer case or can I still run the stock drive train?

SB551, something like that is a long term goal. I picked up this Jeep for $500. It has 200k on it but runs good now that I gave it a tune-up. My regular 02 TJ is a great machine for my wife jeeping around town and light trail runs, but it has a 4banger and I wanted to jump to the 6cyl. I know lots of people like there 4bangers and do everything a 6cyl would do, but me personally, I prefer the 6cyl. I have quite a few things to take care of because the previous owner just put the key in and drove. Plus it previously lived in Jersey so there are a lot of bolts that need to be replaced wire pbrushing to be done. Luckily there is no frame or body rot. It was a little neglected, but also a steal at $500. My intentions are to have it be my daily, build it to a simple lift with 33's, slowly upgrade a lot of parts, then make the jump to a kick ass machine.
