Junkyard swapable parts

I found this write up some time ago, but now I am curious for some more input from other people.Jeff Danielís Jeeps | Message Board | Junkyard Treasures (Parts that'll fit your jeep)
I know that there are some very creative people on here that have come up with some ingenious ideas, so I want to see if any would fit some of my needs (even if I don't know it yet), or even someone elses needs. So come on and share the wealth of knowledge.:D:wavey:

Budget Junkyard Upgrades - JeepForum.com

fissed!

Durango steering box is a good swap. 98 had an available snowplow unit, but it didn't have the fast ratio. The98 non plow box was fast ratio. 99 had the fast ratio only

An S-10 box works as well in Wranglers.

Cool, I did not know that!

I think the thing that makes the Durango box desirable is the quicker ratio though. Is the S-10 box a faster ratio too?

What year s 10 ?

tet1070 06-03-2009 05:10 PM

I have heard that YJ brake lines make good extended brakelines for TJ's.

You may have noticed this in another thread on this builder's forum;

The tube doors, from a Chevy blazer tire rack are sweet!

tet1070 06-04-2009 06:13 AM

I am part of that. I have one built, but I have moved, so I am still waiting on getting things set up to do the the other.

wrusty wrangler 06-21-2009 06:33 PM

I have read that the zq3 s10 (extreme) has a faster ratio. I never put much research into it though.

It's a great idea, & I'm glad he posted it cause it worked really well for me.

The research is key, for these junkyard upgrades! I spend lots of time & effort gathering info before I drop the hammer on a given swap. Only when I am completely convinced, it's gonna be worth the effort.

A trip to the local scrap iron yard will sometimes make your whole week too.
You have to look at everything closely, but you can find some decent project steel.

Last one I was at had a bunch of shop sized air compressors. The mechanical items weren't working but the tanks looked good.
