RK 1.5" tri rate coil update

Ok so about 8 weeks ago i spoke to someone from Rock Krawler regarding their 1.5" tri rate coils and was told they were about 10 weeks out. So i got a little eager today and although it hasnt been a full 10 weeks id figure i would get a status update. They are expected to be available anywhere from mid to late october! Finally a sweet coil for us 2 door guys not loaded up and wanting to get lifted to the sky. RK rep said they should yield close to 2.5" of actual lift on a bone stock JK. After my PSC lite bumpers, full size spare, and warn zeon i should be almost exactly at 2". Perfect! I know ill be placing an order come october! Lol

JGreer 09-26-2013 04:02 PM

Interesting... When I spoke with RK a couple weeks ago they told me it would be sometime around December before they were out.

Interesting! Wonder how they would lift for a 4 door? was looking at the TF 1.5 coils?

JEEPbug 09-26-2013 04:39 PM

I've been looking and doing more looking for a lift with a close to true 2.5 height. hopefully these springs will give that height to a mildly modded JKU. This might be the answer!

jadmt 09-26-2013 04:45 PM

price?

Jku has a little more weight. Would probably yield you more to the 1.5"-2"

i dont believe it to be available as a kit at the moment. (well end of october i mean) but i could be wrong! I cant imagine needing much in the kit. Its not throwing you up very high so drivline and steering geometry shouldnt get thrown off that much.

I'll be waiting eagerly for this. Can't wait for all the RK 1.5 vs Teraflex perf coil leveling kit threads to start. Haha

it does not seem like the TF performance coil kit is all that popular. I have it and like it a lot but I think many people feel that they are a lot of money for a 1.5" lift and just go the budget leveler kit if they are only going for that small of an increase.

I am curious why RK would call theirs a 1.5" lift if they say it is going to lift 2.5"? Why not call it what it is?

JMOD 09-26-2013 05:37 PM

Well if its a 1.5 I can only guess, but 2.5 stock on a JK and 2" on a loaded JK,,,, with a JKU that would be 2" and 1.5 loaded?

Sounds like they want to compete with the ranch 2" and TF 1.5?????

In my never ending research on smaller type lifts it does kinda seem that not many run and/or a fan of the tf perf leveling kit. Honestly I think a lot of people hear "leveling" and assume spacers and then look at the price and say F that noise. That kit is a 1.5 coil lift without shocks and if looked at that way it is pretty competitive. But now with RK realizing the potential market of new JK'ers tryin to stuff 35's with 3.21 and not knowing if they can fit their spare in the stock tire carrier and use minimal lift! I think it's smart.

I may or may not described myself in that last rant........

They always take into account that your rig will be loaded down by some means. Either bumpers skids etc. i think its backwards and we should just add more inches of lift when we weight up instead of the manufacturers just trying to compensate but thats just me.

X3! I think every manufacturer should determine the lift height on a stock wrangler and let fellow enthusiasts determine how that related on a heavily modified one... Especially when talking small lifts that may not be accompanied by hundreds of pounds in extra gear

These will benefit the 2 door esp if looking for that 2.5" height.

Can't really compare to TF's because RK only offers one coil.
I mean 4 door TF 1.5's on a 2 door vs RK's 1.5" maybe :D

So the new RK coils are only for a 2 door?

i

Iirc like their 2.5'a and 3.5's they only offer one coil for both 2 and 4 door.

4 door will be like installing TF's perf leveling kit. The 2 doors will get more lift but shouldn't exceed 2.5"

My RK 2.5's lifted my 2 door 3.5"

RK 1.5" Expedition Suspension
$999

RK 1.5" Max Travel
$1249

RK 1.5" X Factor
$1949

I was really hoping for a stock mod type setup and price point for the 1.5. Will be available this Christmas.

does not look like it is going after the same customer base as TeraFlex is with there 1.5" coil kit.

TxJprs 10-21-2013 02:34 PM

Old Man Emu has a number of spring combinations that will work for either 2 or 4 door Jeeps. Proven ride quality and performance. Just get their stock/light load if you are looking to stay near that 2" mark. Give David at Northridge 4x4 a call. He'll steer you straight, provide great service, good pricing and probably has what you need in stock.

Yeah these are definitely different kits altogether. Not gonna lie though the triple rate coils front and rear though are intriguing. With a good set of shocks could be a killer setup. PRICEY though.

Control arms for a 1.5" lift? I guess I need control arms.

tab22092 10-21-2013 04:03 PM

Oh my stars and stripes...... That x factor is mine.

Any concerns about rear trac bar on a 2 door? Looks like its not addressed in any of the kits.
