Windshield Armor

So I took the wife to 4WD's Jeep Jamboree in Columbiana today. After getting there at 9am. I was asked to put my Zombie Jeep beside the Jeepers VS Zombies display tent. I had a great day and realized that my jeep was missing armor. The Windshield. SOOO I am going to make armor for the windshield. I will post pics as it gets complete. Any thoughts on the matter.

Well, besides the fact that I think it's a pointless armor, gen-right sells armor for that area. Probably cheaper than trying to make your own.

Windsheild Guard, un-painted

The problem is the frame is a relatively weak component and has very little surface area to work with compared to sliders or corner armor. Even with some kind of protection, a hard enough hit can still do damage because there's not a lot of area for the force to be distributed to.

If you do a lot of wheeling where there is opportunity for that kind of damage it would be cheaper/better to just drop the windshield.

Side hills, tight trees and muddy rocks... Lots of trails like that in Oregon & Washington. Your top and windshield are the first points of contact. My top has scrape marks and my windshield frame has a dent. Dropping your windshield in the pouring rain isn't an option for people living in a rain forest.... Lol. I wish I would have invested in that small piece of armor. Used windshield frames ( with glass) are going for $300 around here.

Yes there is armor for the frame. that's easy to upgrade. I am referring to the actual glass part. it will not obstruct view BUT will provide some level of resistance while off road. Now you cant say well what about rocks and trees. There is a line.

I see that protects the windshield frame. and I am referring to the actual glass. Yes one could replace the glass with plexan, but that scratches easy and is expensive.

I should have something in about a week and I will post pics. The sooner I get it done I will post pics.

Any pics of some unfinished ones in Aluminum? Nice price point BTW. I love Genright armor, but for this particular piece I don't see a reason to drop another $60.

Is the seam across the middle of yours ground down before you ship them out?

No, it is left with an exposed TIG weld.

The Gen-right A pillar armor fits like crap - I've installed 2 sets and they were equally as bad.
I've only seen one other Gen-right set and that didn't fit right either.
We call them 'Gen-wrong' :)
