Hello Idaho! A small group of us are taking a road trip early next month from California. We are staying in the Teton Valley. What are the road conditions like? We're not taking the jeep, but actually renting an SUV. It's most likely going to be a 2WD. Do you recommend we bring chains for the SUV? I know tire chains are not permitted in some places.

Road condtions East Idaho
Most likely good roads from Nevada. Utah can be
An easy one or a Quick Slide off. A cali SUV will not
have the tires for this area. Not for march or April.
The smog and heat cause good looking tires to
be Really Slick. Plus the Ice road driveing skills are
Not likely to be good. A very cautious approch may
get you by. But a rush trip can be good or bad.:whistling:

What route you taking?:hide:

Thanks von-klink. Actually we are taking US HWY 93 from Nevada into Twin Falls, then the Interstate 86/15 then hwy 33 from Rexburg into the Teton Valley. I looked the the road cameras tonight and it's not pretty!

Hello.. Im in I.F. how are all of you?? Ready for the warm weather?? Anyways.. So where are some good places to go around here???

von-klink 03-08-2014 01:49 PM

Wolverine canyon?
East out of Riverside, ID. Ah dirty foot... er Black foot.
Out near bone there are some mud holes. There are some
fun places up beyond Heise Hot springs, up the N. side of
Snake River. There's are some interesting side roads off of
Pine creek pass, west of victor,Id. lot of places for day trips.
plent of mud this time of year.

The higher you go the less passable the spots are. still winter
in the hills of So. Eastern Idaho.

So I recently visited Pocatello and now I'm dead set on moving in that general area here pretty soon. Just checking in and seeing if any of you had any leads on some general labor type jobs in the area. Otherwise I'm looking forward to meeting some of you and finding new jeep adventures. Oh and I'm a dune addict so I can't wait to be near st Anthony. I currently live in Washington state.

I live in Pocatello, I see a lot of jeeps cruising around, but its rare to receive a wave back! Whats up with that! I have a 2014 Charcoal rubi with a teraflex long arm kit, no rear bumper(building one at the moment) no spare tire carrier(going to be built into the bumper). I am lucky enough to have a full fabrication shop with all the goodies to fabricate DIY project. Hope to meet some jeepers near me. I always have a cold one in the fridge to share!:beerme:
