Electrical help
Well I have a 1990 yj and just recently the lights do not work. The only lights that work are the front turn signals and they dont work when I push the brakes in. Also in the dash the when I put the brakes on the left and high beams signals turn on and the right turn signal has never come on. Could this be a fuse? Or loose connections somewhere. Please help.

Check every fuse under dash. You might find a blown one. My son and I fixed our problem by changing the fuse.

Could also be a ground issue

Alright I know how to do the fuses but how do u check the ground?

you have ground/connection problem problems and there are many grounds to be checked. my best advise is take it to a mechanic if youve never done electrical work.

How much would that fix be?

My guess is a 1 hour diagnostic charge. that would be to confirm its bad grounds or possible other problem.

my shop i charge 2 hours to do a complete engine bay ground cleaning which may sound high but really it takes that long most times because airbox, battery tray, removal and ofcourse cleaning battery terminals, starter cable connections, alt cable connection, main body ground, engine ground and then all smaller grounds including ecm, tcm, lights, horns...and set engine basic settings and reprogram radio stations.

labor rate is near 100 per hour so 300 for that.

the most critical part is diag since if it doesnt need it you dont want to do it. why spend 300 on a ground cleaning when you might have a bad bulb shorting or turn signal relay.

since now i listed my common repair points you might want to look at those on your jeep and clean them up and apply some dielectric grease before taking to a mechanic. remember when cleaning that rust doesnt conduct very well. only reassemble when contacts are silver clean inclding hardware.
