Better be 40's or larger.

punkafi888 08-03-2009 04:48 PM

jus going to run 35's street and 37's trail. and yes i know it hangs low but you can shave up to two inches off.

yjwes 08-03-2009 08:50 PM

with 37" tires y not go 1/2 ton save some ground clearance

punkafi888 08-03-2009 10:07 PM

the 14bolt is much easyer to do a disk conversion on. its cheap, and it is practically indestructible. there is no need to get aftermarket shafts.

how much axle u need its a light jeep with a 6 cyl engine and 37"

y not a 9"

punkafi888 08-04-2009 07:22 PM

once again 14 bolt was easyer to find. and its not like the 4.0 will stay in there for ever, i may go 4.7l stroked 4.0. or a 383.

9" will hold up to v8s just fine

jpdocdave 08-04-2009 09:20 PM

the beauty about what we do is to each their own. sounds like he found a strong axle he wants to modify and put in his jeep. punkafi says he knows its obnoxiously big, he's gonna shave some off, and is sacrificing some of the clearance for the indestructible and cheap axle.

you won't worry about your rear axle braking thats for sure.

to be perfectly honest i am not much of a ford guy. if you can say i am racist against ford. lol. this coming from a guy that owned an sn95. it was a little v6, not a bad car. for the normal joe. but i drive my cars till they cant drive no more. and i broke the four link off the frame. long story short. thats how i ended up at the off road shop i hang out at. he fixed it. then i traded it for my jeep. i like my chevy rear end. massive 10.5" ring gear. pinion support. say i do bust a shaft. easy as hell to change a full float. a third member would be nice. clearance would be cool and all. but the rocks have left there mark on my rig. now its time to fight back. with the "rock plow"
