Looks like the cheap trim they use to protect door edges.

Correct.Comes in 20' roll ,which was one fender short.

jgano23 07-06-2009 06:47 PM

i like the trim. it gives it a finished look. very nice job.

Dewayne 07-06-2009 08:41 PM

^Thanks.I had been debating doing it for awhile.Figured why spend $500 right now for something I already had just did'nt know how it would look like if I did it myself. Saw it on another forum ,after I saw it thought I could do it.

afrats 07-06-2009 08:58 PM

Looks sweet. Great mod!!!

Tucker54 07-07-2009 02:16 AM

Please do a write-up! I would love to make fenders like that!

I just cut them from factory fenders.
The reson I cut them

The rough idea
Wanted to keep as much width as possible. So cut where the fender edge rolled. And wanted to keep straight line from front view.Tried to keep as wideas steps. Round edges (trim fits better) ,kept front line to match the grill line on bottom.

Dewayne 07-07-2009 10:42 PM

Left the front fender support to give extra strenght
Just trimmed where was at edges

Did most of cutting with fenders on Jeep.

Levinoss 07-07-2009 11:10 PM

Man those are hot! Is it legal to not not have the sides of them? I wish I had a spare set so I could try those out on mine so I can switch them out if I don't like them. They make the jeep look like a 4 wheeler but more expensive. LOL

Can you take a few steps back and give us some full jeep shots? Different angles etc instead of close ups? Wonder how it would look like with TJ after market flares like bushwacker pocket style because they have a little more beef then the stock flares on my 98. Would suck spending all that money on the wackers and just cut them up.

Tucker54 07-08-2009 01:21 AM

Thanks for the writeup and pics! Maybe I'll give it a shot tomorrow:rolleyes:

Yep Missouri does not have a fender law, dont even have to have ANY fenders at all.

Thanks , its just the roll door trim I picked up at O'Reilly's.It has adhesive in the grove already so it goes on quick ,DONT STRETCH IT TO TIGHT ,it will pull lose overnight ,which is not a good thing to see first thing in morning ,Personal experience.:banghead:

My bad ,thought you ment further back in process
Get some shortly.

Tucker54 07-08-2009 04:13 PM

I just did this to my Jeep. Took about an hour with a dremel to tape, cut, and sand everything. Came out AWESOME. looks really cool.

Definitely a good temporary fender system until I get some tubefenders:D
