Electrical issue that keeps getting worse...
I've had this issue for about a year now. Last summer my roommate came into my room and told me that I had left my dome lights on in my Wrangler. I went outside to find that she was right, my dome lights were on. I opened and closed both doors but the lights remained on. I checked the dome light switch and it wasn't in the on position. I wasn't sure what to do at this point so I went inside to do some research. When I came back out my dome lights were off again. It took me a couple of days to confirm that something must have been shorting because they were turning on and off by themselves.
The last straw of this problem came soon thereafter. I walked out of my house at 5:30AM to head to practice only to be welcomed by a dead battery. The battery had drained as a result of my dome light turning itself on and staying on all night. I immediately pulled the fuse for the dome light as well as the lights down near my feet.
A couple of months ago I looked down at my odometer and noticed that it read 8888888. My mileage has disappeared.
Clearly there is some sort of electrical problem going on but I'm not sure where to start. My dad is good with cars and says that it might have something to do with the 02 sensor? At least I THINK that's what he said. Haha. Has anyone else experienced this kind of issue before? If so, what was the issue? I don't really have a ton of extra cash laying around to dish into hours worth of labor to figure out the problem, especially because I have to buy 2 new tires this week. Any advice is appreciated!
Same Problem interior lights wont shut off!!!
My dome light and floor board lights started flickering on and off then finally just stay on all the time. I ended up pulling all the bulbs to prevent my battery from running down. If you find out what the problem is I'd love to know.
Light stalk (on the left of steering wheel) going bad????
