Okay, So I Am An Idiot

After taking my gas tank down for the second time (in prep for the Savvy skid) and breaking one of those (many) fuel line clips, I found out something interesting that I thought I would pass on.

Here is a shot of one of those clips

Here are the clips that I thought you had to undo (the black things)

To get it to look like this, to release the tube

Well, I found out, if you press on this round half-moon part

It goes from this

To this (you can barely make out that the "jaws" have opened)

Now, just pull off.

I find this out after I broke my 2nd clip on the evap can. Hopefully, I can spare someone else the pain.

I had soo much sand built up in my clips I almost broke them trying to figure out how to take them off. Had to get out from under the jeep and take a break and when I came back they magically came right off.

I bought a another set of the 4 lines that run along the top of the tank from a jeep junkyard (for the 2nd time also). Now, I have spares. Anyone need some of the smaller ones? The large one for the evap can is the one I broke twice.

I heard you can get replacement clips from Napa. I have yet to verify.

NAW... not an idiot.... Lesson learned!

For sure! I have broke plenty. In case you break one and can't find a replacement. You can get a small zip ty and it work fine for keeping the line inserted. Just kind of a pain to take off.
