Viking top or Bestop Trektop?

I'm in the market for a new top due to not only a worn out top, but bent spreader bars. I don't want to spend the money for a new top with hardware.

So I narrowed it down to the Viking top and the Trektop.

The obvious choice at first seems to be the viking top, with the excellent reviews, features, quality control, and customer service. I like how you can just fold up and separate the windows, while the trektops side windows don't even come off...

But the viking top is 100$ more + 60 for the header bar, + 140$ for upper door surrounds(for smittybilt, its 220$ for bestop:9lame:).

The Trektop comes with upper door surrounds

Trektop = 577.95$ + tax & free shipping
Viking top = roughly 875.36$ + tax & shipping

Anyone had experience with the Trektop?

Thanks for the help

Viking has an ebay store. They are cheaper there, at least they were when I got mine. I think I paid $560 for it.

Ugh why do people like those tops btw?

The Viking? If you've ever gotten tangled up in all of the metal poles with the factory top you'd understand. It's a frameless soft top and a full bikini top all in one. Also, you can completly remove it and stuff it under the seat.

Yea, I have 3 frames sitting in my garage they are a pita. I just don't like the look but to each their own. I couldn't remember the name of the top when I was complaining about their look the other day that is why I posted. Ignore me :)

How are these tops when it comes to driving at highway speeds, do they flap around a lot or are they like the factory soft top?

I think they are better than the factory because they are held real tight against the roll bar.

The Viking is much quieter than my original factory top. (no flapping at all)

Scout 07-15-2009 01:27 PM

I wouldn't say mine is quieter but it isn't noisier either. No flapping at all.

I will agree with that, but I think the flapping noise of the old top just masked the wind noise.

I for one really dig the style of the Viking. I also like being able to ditch those stupid frames. I think that will be the route I go when my top wears out . . . hopefully not anytime soon as those things aren't cheap from the sounds of it.

ExDementia 07-15-2009 08:50 PM

Yeah, I'm done with the frames, they definitely are too much trouble to be worth paying another 300$ on top of the soft top.:banghead:

trektop right now is 520$ with an instant rebate.
the viking top is still 675$ at the ebay store.

Looking at the options both have I would pony u the extra for the viking.
