Have you had a aftermarket radio in there already? IF you have not had a aftermarket radio in there then yes. You need to get a install kit for a jeep wrangler and it will be a plateto make the hole smaller.

Yep, the OEM radios are also bolted from the back. So, if you have a stocker, no shortcuts.

So, you have a kenwood in now? What are you replacing it with?
The insert may be different, do you have it for the "new" stereo?
If so, you can pull the kenwood out, get the stereo cage out, insert the new cage, wire the new plug and insert it.

Don't forget the fm antenna plug in the back. It's separate from the wiring harness.

ok, i got one more question before i jump into this tomorrow...... if i already have an aftermarket Kenwood in there, will i still have to change the wire harness or is it an one size fit all sort of thing, or does every brand have a different wiring harness?

Most likely it has a harness installed to run the kenwood you have in there now. "HOPE SO". and hope it wasn't "jimmy rigged".
If it does have one of the universal adaptor harnesses installed all you need to do is remove the adapter from the old kenwood and splice it to the new unit.
