Ok, so on the old D44 rears (CJ's, FSJ's) you have to pack the outer wheel bearings because they had an inner and outer seal. But on the Tj 44 there is only an outer seal present. So, do I need to pack the bearings, or does the differential oil in the new ones feed the bearings too? I know it wont hurt if I do pack them, but is it necessary? Let me know, thanks in advance.

No there is no need to pack the bearings on either the 30 or the 44.

Agreed. You should always pre lube your bearing and race before operation. Even if it is lubed by the diff fluid.

That's what I thought, and I did prelube them. Just wanted to double check because mI couldn't find anything on it in my service manual. So, thanks for the back up.
