YJ Dimensions Please

Hey guy's until i pick up my YJ from the dealer i'm trying to find a proper size tool chest for the back. cam anyone give me the dimensions on the area behind the backseat that i can fit one in.

or if theres any insider information on how to get a lockable box back there that i don't know.

thanks a lot

PS i found a few cobalt chests from lowes, most are about 12 in in depth so im looking for a good fit.

do you need a tool chest or just storage?

yeah well a little bit of both. do a lotta computer tech so ill need a place for tools but need to store a few things in the top area thats why i'm thinking that tool case is perfect.....IF it fits

look at quadratec. there is a secutity panel that mounts behind the rear seat. it secures the whole area when you lock the tail gate. it's called an add-a-trunk.

If you can get some 1/8" sheet steel, you could fab one up that would be very secure.

I want to do this, but need the back seat for the kids.

I have also seen ones made from thick plywood, but I don't find that material to be very sexy.

yeah wood is outa the question....im going into some pretty rough neighborhood with my tools....but i dont really have any good metal tools around or friends with them to fab up something that would be nice and clean. so i think the cobalt might just work as long as i can fit it in there behind the back seat.....if anything F the backseat lol
