No More Lifetime Warranty

I seen that starting 2010 model yr Jeep has dropped the lifetime warrenty,,, kinda sucks cause I was looking at getting a Jeep and keeping forever.

The big wig at Jeep said they did a market study and found people would rather have a set term for a warrenty to expire..... SAY WHATTTTTTTTT

lol

Also I looked on the Jeep web site and it looks like they have 0% on Wranglers for upto 72 months,,, and with upto $3k cash back.

So whats your idea about them dropping the life time warrenty?

I just read in thier web site that in the FAQ about the lifetime warrenty,

When asked about thier lifetime warrenty , Jeep said, we feel our product is so good,, and much much better than ever before,, we can offer a lifetime warrenty on the powertrain.

And when asked what lifetime meant,,, He responded,, Lifetime means Lifetime.

I don't know what a warrenty is, but if you are saying they dropped their lifetime warranty program, that blows. If it is so good, why did they drop it. That 0% is a sweet deal though!

You have to be careful with the 0% or the low financing deals. You have to pay full book price. When I bought my 07' they had a deal with low interest. I usually go through a local bank and just give them a check you end up getting the lowest price. I saved over 7K, Interest with good credit and 20% down does not cost any where near that.

More info on the Warranty:

2010 Chrysler Jeep Warranty 5-Yr/100K Miles (Link)

The difference between the current Lifetime Warranty, and the 5-Yr/100K Miles Warranty, is that the new one will be transferable to another Owner, while our current one, is not. That could be a big deal for some Potential Buyers, who don't plan on keeping their Jeep more than a few years.

Now, if you purchased the Extended Warranty, then that one IS TRANSFERABLE. Just the Powertrain Warranty is not.

Cheers!

Not true. We bought my wife's Liberty in February when they still had employee pricing plus. We didn't pay "full book price" and we got 0% for 4 years.

I could be wrong, If you do not mind what did you pay?

A lifetime warranty dont apply much to a jeeper anywho, because the second you mod it you void the warranty...

Again that is not true. The lifetime warranty is for the powertrain.

I want to know....WTF is up with the frickin head rests??? They're like blocks of styrofoam...and on the back seats too! I considered a JK for my wife (ended up getting her a TJ), test drove it... we both agreed... the head rests BLOWS! Awkward angle, kills visibility in the back.... WTF were they thinking???

You guys that actually own one... have they been an issue with comfort for u???

Hasn't been an issue with mine, they're just there in case you get rear ended.

Exactly. I have never ever had a cause to even use a head rest on any vehicle unless I was sitting waiting for someone and decided to take a nap. I have never had my head touch a head rest while driving. The rears can be an issue if you have a hard top. Between the wiper motor, head rests and rear tire, there is little rear window visibility. However, that is what side mirrors are for.

I think a transferable 5 year/100K would be more valuable than the Lifetime non-transferable warranty. Those of us with the lifetime non-transferable will probably take it in the shorts on resale value when we sell or trade.

For me the Lifetime is much better, since we plan to keep it 10 year minimum. The transferable piece is nice but would be nice if they would have went back to the 7 year, as I think 5 is kinda short.
