Purchased a 2012 wrangler sport with 49,000 miles. I am new to the Jeep family and love the jeep thus far. My question is shocks. When braking I experience a dip. Is this normal? I brought the jeep to the dealer for a 27 point check and everything checked out when I purchased it two weeks ago. For all I know, this could be the normal ride experience. If I replace the shocks, which shocks would you recommend?
My 08JK Sahara had 57000 when I got fed up with the shocks enough to start shopping.
A buddy gave me his take off Rubis that had a few thousand on them.
While of a marginal improved smooth pavement ride, on gravel & moderate to extreme stutter bumps/washboard conditions, the Rubis proved unsatisfactory.
Over the last 3000 miles I've been obsessing, reading & plaguing various suppliers.
Last Saturday I had Rancho 9000 XT installed on my non-lifted JK.
Been playing with the adjustment levels every few days.
So far the RANCHOS look like solid thumb UP, in my limited experience.
I've put about 20 miles on moderately rough logging roads. Very impressed with totally different feel between the 3/3 setting and the 8/6 setting.
Looking at this experience, perhaps changing to RANCHO 9000 at 25000 miles where I put new Kelly TSRs on, would have been an even better choice.
I second this ^
Rubis are around $100 used
Rancho's if you buy before the end of the month.
but 3 get 1 free
I can't tell you technically, but I know I like how the jeep rides much better with our Ranchos.
We got ours last year during Shocktober. Hopefully we will get to order another set this year! :)
X4 for Rancho... As for the sox above...they can suck it ha
The nose dip is normal, for a sport at least. Mine has always done it.
