Hey Atom, I just bought a Kensington adapter that connects through the cigarette lighter and its sounds great and crystal clear. I get a little static every once in a while but 95% of the time its like listening to a CD.

I've tried a lot of devices and ended up replacing my stereo for an Alpine unit (about 200 bucks) and bought the additional Ipod adapter cable (30 bucks) which allows me to control it from the receiver itself. It also charges it while plugged in. I got it all at crutchfield.com (very knowledgeable and helpful). I installed everything myself including new speakers. They may have a cheaper solution for the factory stereo too.
Hope this helps. :)

In my German spec BMW, I installed a JVC with an IPod connector. It works really well and I like the ability to control the IPod through the head unit. I also like the fact that I put the IPod out of sight in the glove box and leave it there. For the Jeep, right now, I use an FM transmitter. It actually works very well. When I go back to the states next year, I'll be pulling the JVC out of the BMW and putting it in the Jeep. I'll keep the IPod out of sight in a Tuffy glove box then.
Anyway, I was never really impressed with FM receivers until I got this latest one from iLuv. It is the i701 and is by far the best transmitter I have come across. Very powerful and rarely do I get static. Here is the link: http://www.i-luv.com/iLuv/product_in...roducts_id=272
