2010 Wrangler Unlimited EV

anyone know the msrp and release date of the 2010 Wrangler Unlimited Electric Vehicle? I have seen it at a car show and it looks pretty sharp, although it's more of an SUV than an off roader. Any of your thoughts or information about this car would be greatly appreciated.

A powerwheels jeep for the big kids now eh?

What makes you think this is being released in 2010?

njatrtljp 09-03-2009 09:34 PM

I read an estimated release date of 2010 but it sounded unsure. The article said one of them will be released but the Town and Country van is most likely. I also read that when it first comes out it wont be 4wd. It will only be 2wd. so really whats the point?

i am not a fan of that particular jeep idea, but there's no reason to resort to name calling because it is a jeep you don't like. if you want to make fun of the jeep itself then by all means have at it, but all this guy did was ask a question.

yeah keep the name calling over on jeepforum :bottom:

that JEEP is gay, not neccessarily the op

I think that Jeep would be a great idea. IF they could keep the Jeep as functional as it is now. I would love a Jeep that gets better mileage.

The way I think about it is this- electric motors produce torque at ZERO RPM, and a lot of it. So it'd be a sick rock crawler, if they tune it right.
If they do it wrong, mall crawler deluxe- paint it pink and slap a Power Wheels decal on it- Mark W.

My bad. I had some beers last night and that's how I feel about a vehicle that you have to plug in next to your kids big wheel in the garage. Anyways an electric vehicle isn't worth the extra price. Plus they are harder on the environment than a Hummer.

The OP's link was to an article from November of 2008. Don't you think if it was being released in 2010 there would be no need to ask on an internet froum when it was coming out?

The only reason I can imagine why they would choose a Jeep as the platform for an EV would be to effectively handle the weight of the batteries. A Jeep is considered by many to be rugged and masculine. Considering present day technology, an electric Jeep would be considered somewhat less than that by many. How's that for PC?

thaduke2003 09-04-2009 12:08 PM

Thanks- I try ;) Mark W.

I used less words in my drunken stupor last night. But like you said, it's PC!

I could have said it all in 3 letters, but that would have gotten me in trouble.:)

i think they used the wranger cause its the main jeep vehical. if they made an electric jeep liberty nobody would notice. its because its the wrangler that it brings attention the the whole we are green thing all the car makers are going for.

I was thinking more of a Compass. What would make sense is a hybrid Patriot to compete with the Ford Escape hybrid.
