Tires

What are the best 33" tires for a daily driver that likes to go offroad once in a while???

khenderson 10-24-2006 11:45 PM

i will always be a fan of my BFG AT's. i only have 30's, but they have lasted over 50K and have done well for me when i wanted to go wheel. i think they are a great all around tire.

bfg muds they are silent for a mud I had a set and could not hear them on my mj.

I have 33 BFG AT's and I love them. I think these are the best all around tire you can buy. They do great on the road and great off the road.

x2. i say forget an AT. if you choose a good MT then you'll have great road manners like an AT and still do better offroad

Texapple 10-25-2006 08:46 AM

the BFG all terrain has been good to me

If you do mostly street driving, buy an all terrain. I've run many tires on the street and offroad, and muds will run fine on the street, but a good all terrain (I run bfg a/t's) will have much better road manners than a mud tire. As long as you air down off road, an a/t can take you almost anywhere, and get you home smoothly. You'll get more miles out of an a/t on the street.

Man, don't believe it. Those MTs will get you killed. I've always run them myself, but their on road manners are terrible in comparison to an AT.

I just went from BFG A/T's to M/T's I love both sets. The A/T's were super quiet on the highway, my new Mud Terrains hum a bit and I get the feeling of a better grip and I love'em too.
I posted some pics under the wheels/tires thread.
Good luck!

their road manners are as good as my stock wrangler gsa's were...only thing i've noticed is that when i go through a big collected puddle of water they slide a little bit...but thats it and its just a little...but most of the puddles collect at the edge of the road and not the middle since its flat so i hardly ever hit puddles...when i found this out i was hittin them on purpose :D

Yeah, but wait until you're not playin'....

I like the look of BFG's, and it seems like most people love them. Being new im not planning on going crazy like going down the rubicon, but want something that will handle good in all weather conditions and has a nice look to it. What is everybodys favorites?

Griz 10-27-2006 01:50 PM

BFG A/T I have them on my pick-up as well and they are Great. You won't go wrong with these tires.

Well, I was going to ask a tire question... but...

You can ask opinions, but you really need to do the research. Nothing like actually going to the tire store and looking, asking questions and comparison shopping. Internet helps narrow the choices before you make the trip.

amerijeep 10-27-2006 05:00 PM

Yeah, I was just making the comment that there are like 5 or 6 threads on the subject... tires. I fully support the asking of any question, no matter how many times it has been asked. I am getting to where I don't even look at tire threads now though.
