newbie needs help
im a 17 year old kid that knows a little bit about cars but not enough to fix this mess, so i signed up to this forum for maybe some help and maybe future advice on upgrades.. i just recently received a 1995 jeep wrangler hardtop (idk if that matters or not) and i got it free with 138k on the clock. but when i opened the door first off the door was messed up so maybe someone could help me with that? (pics at the end of thread i circled the things im most curious about) and then i looked under the steering wheel and see a bunch of wires and it just looks horrendous :9lame:. i have no idea what goes to what or what box does what so i need a little help indentifying a few things so maybe i can solve my major problem. the roof lights dont turn on? my seatbelt light doesnt stay on? i have no inside lights? the aftermarket radio keeps resetting its self as far as time and settings after i shut the car off? there are pictures on the bottom and it will be great if someone or maybe a few people could help me with this issue
thanks in advance!:D
the mess of wires
what is this thing?
the lights that came with the jeep but dont turn on?
the door driver side
zoomed up view, something broke and i guess he used ties to fix it?
passenger side door comparison
The boxes in the top pics look like maybe some sort of alarm system.
The radio resetting itself is due to it being plugged into a keyed power source. you need to run the power wire to a constant power source.
The door latch parts need to be replaced. Jeep uses too damn much plastic...
The wiring mess will just need to be traced and trimmed. It takes awhile but it really isn't hard once you get into it.
thanks alot skeeter, ill probbably trace the wires tomorrow morning and see what info i can get out of it
Good luck i don't feel as bad about my rats nest anymore.
How much did you pay for that? Free?
