Jeep sound system

I have a 1993 Jeep wrangler YJ Sahara, there isnt much room for subs or anything. i was wondering what would be the best sub system/amp to put in that isnt outrageously overpriced. My dad told me to get a bazooka tube, but iv heard alot of bad things about it. any suggestions?

a bazooka tube? dosen't that shoot things at tanks?

haha no navy chief. Biotech my girlfriend has one in her trunk and hers is fine. but, if you do get one and theres problems then let us know cause i only know 1 person with it and hers is fine

I wouldn't do subs in a YJ, personally. Too much to vibrate. If you don't have one, get a sound bar, plus the speaker set that goes in front of the shifter on the firewall that aims at the two passengers...maybe speaker pods on the back wheel wells. But subs? I think everything would just shake and rattle and be high irritating

You need a crossover, either electronic or passive. This will direct the sound to the right speaker,
highs--->tweeters
mids--->midranges
bass--->subs

I've got the two 3x6 (i think) dash speakers, two 6X9 wheel well speakers, and a Sony 12" X-plode sub in the trunk with a 700W amp. the wheel well speakers are pretty crapy but once the head unit and amp were adjusted it sounds good

First, standard 4x6's wont fit. the jeeps used weird plate speakers, so keep that in mind. your better off buying the adapter plates and going with 5.25's in the front. second, dont put components in the sound bar. that close to your head is not where they were designed to be. third 4-6x RMS wattage is what your sub should be, so if your running 75wRMS on your speakers than the min i usually use would be a 300wRMS sub. add in the fact that this is a topless jeep, that hurts the sound from the start.
Place high and mid range speakers in the dash or under the front dashboard of the Jeep. Use a sound bar on the center roll bar where the sound will be emitted close to the driver or passenger before getting lost in road noise.
Use mid range speakers in the center of the Jeep.Speakers can also be positioned on the front of the rear fender wells or on the back of the console between the front seats.

WRONG! Square eyes revolt!

Ok I'll play nice. The above applys only to tj's and not yj's. Standard 4x6's will fit with no problems

And also my sound bar sounds great!

i had a sick system in my jeep. an alpine cda 9885 head unit. little pioneer's in the dash, 6x9 pioneer 3ways in sealed boxes. a rockfos 10" hx2 comp sub in a .5f3 box. speakers where running on a kicker 350.4 07 amp, sub was running on a 1000.1 07 amp. not much rattled. i loved it till i took my top off, i got 4 tickets in two weeks, damn spl violations. that and it rained a lot this year. fryed my mono block. then i took everything out and put it in my jetta.

Get marine sub and amp. Personally I would go with kicker. They have a 10" marine sub in a plastic box that sounds great and it fit perfectly on the tailgate then get the mx700.4 amp. U can run this to 4 speakers and ur sub and it sounds greati had it but had to sell it for money problems. Just go to kicker.com and look at it.
