Due to the crazy Texas sun my spare is starting to develop cracks even though I put tire shine to try fight the sun. I had to give in and order a tire cover for the 33 inch

Ordered a spice colored plain one

Check in if you wear one on your spare!

whetstone 10-30-2013 05:19 PM

What color is "spice"?

jeff_in_rc 10-30-2013 05:53 PM

Spice is Tan so ya know.

I run a cover on my 35" spare as the desert sun here is just as bad as Texas, if not worse.

Beachcomber 10-30-2013 06:29 PM

I have a Life is Good cover which I thought said it all since I only use my Jeep at the beach, but now I see everyone has the same one so I'm looking for something new.

Thats just funny right there

TJZ 10-30-2013 06:46 PM

Just kidding, it's not clear, it just looks like a wheel and tire.

mommymallcrawler 10-30-2013 07:26 PM

I have one from the dealer for now. Free advertising lol.

Someone will believe that, promise. :-!

nestle1 10-30-2013 08:28 PM

Plain black ... just not a fan of the tire showing .

TJZ 10-30-2013 10:15 PM

I really don't get the Tire Cover thing. If you like your wheels, why cover the spare ? It doesn't get any more sun, rain or snow than the other 4 tires and you rotate the spare in sooooooo ? I just don't get it. I don't think I've ever seen a cover I liked anyway. They all have some goofy crap on them. Please, someone show me one that's cooler than mine. Lol

Yep, we have one of those on ours. Wife wanted it and it's her Jeep. The wrinkles in the pic have mostly gone away. That was taken the day she installed it.

I rest my case ! Lol

TJZ 10-30-2013 10:33 PM

Everyone and their mother has that one or the damn smiley face with the bandana on it. Man I hate those ! Lol

zxsaint 10-30-2013 11:55 PM

Never been a fan of tire covers; I don't see the point besides maybe advertising your business (or more commonly the dealership's business)

Retroman1969 10-31-2013 07:29 AM

Took mine off when I first got the jeep.
I was going to replace it with something else, but the choices were all too generic and overused. I think it looks better coverless.

Kthulhu 10-31-2013 07:46 AM

I took mine off as soon as I got it home as I didn't feel like giving the dealership free advertising. I meant to get something else but I got the Moab wheel package and I like the look of the rims. I was pleasantly surprised that the spare is the same so I left it off. I'm in the northeast though, the sun isn't as much of a problem here.

Larry_D 10-31-2013 08:19 AM

Plain Black. I do like the Jeep navigation compass one though

Not sure what "cover" I would want removed first, the TIRE or that 3rd BRAKE light (Rosie) !!!

Lbear 10-31-2013 10:24 AM

I'd like one that just says "Tire" on it. In case I forget where I put the spare. :lmao:

I'm not a Big Dead fan but at least it's well done.
Cool.

rubisteph 10-31-2013 12:32 PM

Just put mine on since the first snow is around the corner up here and I wanna protect the tire and wheel from salt.

It's the 10A spare tire cover and just says RUBICON in red.... tight fit, but was able to cover my 285/70-17 Duratrac...

LOL - I guess I won't show you the pic of the chrome daisy license plate frames she has on it.

Rosie the Riveter and Jeeps go back to WWII, when both were first introduced. If you "liked" that brake light decal you should see the pic of the Rosie garage wall mural she recently completed. :)

TJZ 10-31-2013 08:50 PM

Crappy spares are not acceptable ! We will need you to deal with this ASAP. LOL

I was checking out the spare under the plain black cover on my new (98) TJ...it was original (which I knew), and a plain steel wheel--when I looked a little closer I found that the wheel was rotted out. looks like the shape of the wheel allows it to collect moisture, which settles to the bottom; this was the spot that was very heavily rusted. I doubt it would even hold air.
I wouldn't dare drive on it, and the 15 year old tire is n-g, as well (simply due to age; it was never used, completely unworn).
when looking around on CL for a spare, I found that there were more "sets" of OEM alloys available, so I figured since I'm going to have to spend so much on new tires, I might as well spend a little more and get some new wheels, too.
I "needed" a spare, but wound up with a whole new set.
Most of the wheels I saw on CL were pretty badly scarred up from corrosion, etc, but I lucked out and found one set that looks practically new.

Anyway, now I wonder--did the cover over the spare promote this rotting out of the original spare? or was it just the shape/structure that was primarily responsible? If nothing else, the cover kept it hidden (out of sight--out of mind).

TCrow2 11-01-2013 07:18 AM

I want a Jurassic park cover. I saw a blue jeep with a captain America shield cover. I thought it was pretty cool.
