the drain plug is located on the bottom closer to rear of transmission.
the fill plug is located on the side about 1/2 way back. on the passenger side

if you have a 2001 manual 4.0L then no. you have the NV3550 transmission.

your trans will take a little more than 2 qts. i've found that what is recommended is mopar part # 0487446, but i have also seen that guys use pennsoil synchromesh and royal purple synchromax.

I have a 1997 4.0L...Do I have the AX-15 that is pictured?? I think I need to add some fluid.

How often should the tranny fluid be changed?

Not totally sure which you have, but I know in my 97 the fill plug is actually halfway up on the driver's side, not passenger. It looks the same as in the picture above though.

my tranny has the fill plug on the passangers side, it isn't not an allen bolt it is a hex head and it has a wire comming off it that goes to a plug, and the drain bolt is a hex head bolt too.

i have a 98, does this sound right? hopefully because i swapped out the fluids and drove it around today with no issues.
