Dealer price doesn't equal Jeep.com
 
I was going into my dealer today to order a 2014 Sahara JKU, and the MSRP of several items on the invoice were different than they were on the Jeep.com Build & Price. The final MSRP of the car came out to $620 more on the dealer order than on the Jeep.com build. How is this possible??

Sahara Unlimited ~ MSRP 200$ over
5 Speed Auto ~ MSRP 20$ over
Black Hard Top
Connectivity Group
Leather Bucket seats ~ MSRP 200$ over
Anti-spin rear axle
3.73 Axle Ratio ~ MSRP 200$ over

Jeep.com MSRP: $37,540
Dealer MSRP: $38,160

Can jeep really raise the price like that?

welcome to shopping for a new wrangler.... you'll find quite a few dealerships have ridiculous mark ups on their jeeps.

do some more research on here and find out everything you need to know. also listen to what that guy above me posted about treadlightly and join it.

next thing you do march back into more then one dealership demand what you want to pay and how much you want off invoice and there you go....

I know about tread lightly, and when I was looking into it as a quote next to the MSRP I realized how insignificant it seems. The dealer MSRP was at $38,160 and the forms shows the FFP (whatever that means) as $35,543. I was willing to pay about 35.... Maybe. What is this shit? Lol

FFP = friends and family plan. Don't know what the rest of those numbers are. Did they work them up at a 3 martini lunch?

"Jeep" isn't raising the price. The brand does not control the prices offered by a dealer.

There's no reason you can't get it for invoice. Tell them you want invoice and politely walk out if they don't say yes. If they don't call you within a day or two, just look at a different dealership.

It depends on the dealer and the sales volume in your area but I got invoice on a loaded '14 JKR without any real haggling, and it was a special order with the exact options I wanted.

For future reference, when buying anything, you should walk into the store knowing more about the product than the salesman. They will immediately be able to tell and unless they have a draconian sales manager, they will offer you a fair deal up front. Walk in knowing exactly what you want and what a FAIR price is and the whole process will take no time at all. I spent less than an hour in the dealership to get the price I wanted and place my order. Bought the thing over my lunch hour. It really does work.

If the salesman thinks that they can close a deal QUICKLY and move on to the next customer, they will offer you a much better deal because the less time they have to deal with you, the more time they have to catch other shoppers on the lot and earn their commission. You might not get the ABSOLUTE best deal, but you'll get a fair price, the salesman and sales manager will like you, and you will have a bit of friendly leverage when it comes time for services and warranty claims. Pain in the ass customers get pain in the ass service (not that I'm saying you're one of them, just in general).

Chrysler raised both MSRP and dealer invoice on a number of options sometime around Sept 1st. If you ordered the Jeep before price increase and paid for it within 14 days after arriving, they will refund you the difference. I got my check last week on 8/14/13 ordered JK. The MSRP on the website still has the older pricing.

This right here. The website seems to always be lagging behind, so it looks like the dealer pricing is higher, but it's the new higher pricing. Make sure when you do order you get a signed buyers agreement so that if prices go up again for any reason, you will be protected.

Jeep recently had a price increase, however the website doesn't reflect the update. They are still showing the max tow package for Sport and Sahara models at $395 when it has actually increased to $745.

I know for a fact that there has been a price increase and it's not reflected on Jeep's website. I ordered my JK on 10/4 and found out about the $200 increase on the 3.73 option like you have marked in your pic. That is just one of several price increases that took place towards the end of Sept.

You ordered side air bags - good call.

Is the $995 at the bottom a delivery charge?

I've heard that the FFP is the same as the 1% below invoice price you'll get through the Chrysler Affiliate Rewards program after you become a member of someplace such as Tread Lightly. With a program like that and available to anyone there's no reason to ever pay more than 1% below invoice.

Yep. As far as I know, this price is about 0.77% below invoice, but at the price I was willing to pay, it's ~2.3% under invoice. Is that fair to ask of the dealer? It's another 550$ off the car. Not trying to penny pinch.. But everything already went up over 600$

As others have said, Jeep and Chrysler update their pricing as they deem necessary, but the website may or may not be updated to accurately reflect the changes. The website isn't the definitive statement of costs.

Dealers are mostly independent franchisees and can charge what ever they like. Some will negotiate on price and others will not, offering you a Dodge Dart if you insist on a discounted price. Dealers do tend to like to play with pricing, trade in, financing, and fees.

There's another thread similar to this I posted on earlier. I went to consumer reports and ordered their price report. The dealer told me he couldn't match the numbers I was looking for, so told him what he paid for the jeep, what his hold back was and that I had certificates from three other local dealers that would honor the offer I just made him. He went to talk to the floor manager and came back five minutes later and said they could do it.

Bottom line is, if the dealer knows you did your homework they are usually willing to deal with you. I got my JKU for 800 under their invoice, the hold back on it was around $1060.
