found a alpine mrpm450 under the back seat
I bought a used 03 tj and lifted up the back seat and found a mono subwoofer alpine mrpm450 amplifier. I'm clueless when it comes to audio systems. Has factory headunit but it has a wiring harness hanging down below not connected to anything. Any thoughts on what this is? Not sure about the speakers. I assume I have to take out some screws and look at the back of the speakers to see if they are factory? Now that I have this mono power amplifier how do I go about building a system around it or just leave well enough alone?

Sounds like they switched the radio out then back when they sold it. Must have forgot the amp or not cared about it.

This unit has one set of speaker outputs. What is up with that?

Just means it was being utilized for subwoofer(s). There's usually signals for left and right, but usually just one subwoofer output on an aftermarket headunit. It has to do with bass frequencies being non-directional, and not needing a left and right sub - basically, you just need one unless you're trying to increase volume by having more than one woofer (of the same size).

Can I use the unit to power 4 speakers or is it just for a subwoofer? The speaker output terminal is not connected to anything. Left speaker + left- rightspeaker + right - no cords for this. I'd like a new headunit and 4 aftermarket speakers is this amp going to do me any good or do I just ditch it?

Could be used and should be used are two different things. It's just for a sub.

I'd ditch it or trade for a 4 way amp, either that or just power the 4 speakers off the headunit like most people do.
