Front bumper question

I have a grille guard and the basic OEM bumper, but am wanting to upgrade it. Is it possible to buy a new bumper and still keep my guard? Or do I have to get rid of the guard in order to obtain a really sturdy more aggressive looking bumper?

Depends on the bumper and you want to get and how the grill guard attaches. I bought a rock crawler style bumper and put my light bar on it.

im still using the stock bumper with the Genright stinger bar modded to work wit hthe stock bumper.

I'm looking at either an XHD front bumper or a warn bumper. I will put a pic of my front end tomorrow evening. I want to keep my grill guard, of which it seems like it sits on top of the bumper.

Ok, so here is a pic of my front bumper with the grille guard that came with it. And hopefully you'll all be able to see it correctly, thank you and I look forward to any advice. Also, I'm not sure if I want a front bumper with fog lights already in the bumper, like on the delta front bumper, or if I should just replace my fog lights, and of course move them more outwards.

it looks like the grill guard is only installed at the 4 bumper mount bolts. it will still fit with some other bumpers like this one:

Thank you Nicolas, that is good to know, as like I've mentioned before, I love my guard and would want to keep it if at all possible and just replace the bumper.

TJSportGirl 10-12-2009 12:07 AM

Thank you alst for the input. What type of bumper would you recommend?

alstjruby03 10-12-2009 09:52 AM

use stock bumper just take off the ugly jugs on the ends.real cheap upgrade.i had tow bar brackets and winch on mine and didn't want to change it all.

TJSportGirl 10-12-2009 01:29 PM

And your talking about the end caps correct? Just making sure I take off the right thing lol

Yea, then run to a local welding shop and have them close the ends in and the can re-enforce it too a little. Some black rattle can spray paint and you have a brand new bumper! Re-drill you lights to the outside of the grill guard or add in 2 more hehe.

TJSportGirl 10-12-2009 10:35 PM

I'm gonna have to replace the lights as right now they are right next to the actual grille bars, not inbetween like they should be. Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it

take a pic after you take them off please.

Man I wish you all lived closer to me. I could fix you up in about an hour. I agree with the jug removing. I have modified several of these by cutting the ends off at a 45 degree angle just past the frame rails and then capped them. They look really good and having them shorter, they don't get hung up on rocks which we have alot of in the Ca. mountains.

TJSportGirl 10-13-2009 03:59 PM

Ironman, looks like we need to get a roadtrip going and meet halfway :punk:. And also is that what you would recommend? Is to cut it off at a 45 angle? And yes I will take a pic of it when I'm done :D
