Bushwacker Flat Fenders

I searched and read only one thread where someone had them on their Jeep and they liked them. Their response: "The new Bushwhacker Flat flares, like I installed earlier this year are made from a new plastic so they are not crack or breakage prone at all, though I was able to damage them on a trail that no other flare could have survived either with possibly the exception of the Warn flares."
Anyone else have these on their Jeep? I like the Warn flares but I want to go with flat fenders.

I like the flat flares but sure would be costly if they are damaged or destroyed. I guess any would be though. Mu goal is for steel tube fenders one of these days.

Just put them on a couple of weeks ago and they look pretty good but don't seem too robust to me.If I could do it over I would have went with steel tube fenders and probably will once I kill these.

Well I ended up buying them and installed them last week. I like them but the price was a little steep. I do like the fact that it gives an additional 2" of tire space and covers up to 6" of tire width. Now I have to buy bigger tires!

Thats about the same for me. Although I've had them for a while (since early summer) and haven't it anything with them yet. They look good though. :D

From what ive heard, no one who does alot of offroading approves of those bushwhacker flares. What people end up doing is they rip it off, and get the tube fenders. Expensive? yes, but theyre steel and you can get them for about $250 shipped to you if you get them used.

Mine used to look all flat & smooth like that. 3 of my 4 have been pretty well jacked and torn off then reattached. They bent but they didn't break. :D

Wow!

Here's another... The good thing is they don't break like the older Bushwhacker flares do. When they get ripped off, they can be reattached with bigger washers & smoothed out with a heat gun. :)

By the way... my pics should not reflect negatively on the Bushwhacker flat flares. Nothing could survive what I put them through, being forcefully ground into the rocks & boulders by a 4400 lb. Jeep. :)

danieldlg_13 11-07-2009 10:29 AM

how come you didn't just take them off before you took the jeep through some rocks?

I just installed the rear set. When I install the fronts do they extend further towards the rear o fthe jeep than the stock flares? Installation instructions mentions someting about reinstalling the tub trim and moving the mounting hole by 3/8". If that is the case i will have to remove my rock sliders and cut off 3/8" to make room for the longer flare.
