If you like the look of tubular bumpers itīs a good choice.

Geo 10-08-2009 01:39 PM

I really want something more like this but don't wanna pay an arm and a leg for it.

Whatīs about a Smittybilt Rockcrawler bumper (159$)?
You could add an additional tubular grille guard.

Or a Smittybilt XRC bumper (399$)?

click me

these are unfinished (unpainted) bumpers from made by ryansfab.net. i have their front bumber on my cj and paid way less than other bumpers. they are really heavy and stand up to trees and rocks (trust me ;))

Jesse-James 10-08-2009 01:53 PM

Mine came from an Ebay fabricator by the name of "Thriller Customs", came unfinished for $160. Better to deal with a smaller outfit IMHO.

I can't see your picture from here. Is it this bumper?

^^^^^ yup

ChrisTX 10-08-2009 02:16 PM

It's not bad. Does what it was designed to do. It will knock down small trees if you need it to. What else do you want to know?

Hey GEO i just bought a new front bumper for my TJ from a guy on the Austin Craigslist. He makes them and sells them unfinished. It was really easy to finish it and it looks great solid as anything you can buy. He even added some extra light tabs on it for free.

Jeep Wrangler Front Bumper

thats cool! got any pics of it on your jeep? preferably from the side.

jwells36 10-08-2009 03:08 PM

I need to take some i was trying to wait until i got the new lights on it but i can go ahead and take a few pics anyway for you. The good thing about this bumper is it will accept any winch plate.

yeah i basicly wanna see how far that hoop sticks out. I'm not really into the whole "stinger" thing.

I got this bumper i havent picked it up though.

TheTJRod 10-08-2009 04:18 PM

I got the smittybilt XRC bumper that has the built in winch plate, no winch yet but one less thing to buy. Got it off ebay for $260 ($300 shipped). I had to lengthen the wires for my OE fog lights to use them, but easy enough. The front bumpers are super easy to install.

First day I got them I went to a Big Dogs Off Road event and muddied them up.

Here are a couple of pics of the bumper that i bought and finished myself. Dont mind all the bugs squished on the front of it, we have had lots of rain in this area and the skeeters are thick.

that looks pretty sweet, espically for the price!

jwells36 10-08-2009 06:08 PM

yeah all i did was clean it with acetone, spray two coats of etching primer and then spray it with two cans of dupli-color spray in bedliner. It was really easy and it looks great. Course anything would be an improvement over stock.

Are those the stock replacement fogs? I was thinking about getting those but did not know if they were any brighter than stock, i figured for $150 they better be.

n8smitty 10-09-2009 12:00 PM

the two on the bumper are the kc replacement fogs. I like them better than the factory fogs. I'm not really sure if they are brighter but they work great. I use them all the time. the ones on the light bar are slimlite driving lights. they are very bright, I use them on back roads instead of my brights.

n8smitty 10-09-2009 12:01 PM

oh and btw....I had to drill holes in the smittybilt bumper to put the outer fogs on it. It doesn't come with holes for the lights.

Geo 10-09-2009 12:19 PM

i appreciate everybody's input but I'm sitll undecided. the first one I posted is out of the question, it just sticks out way to far.

I like that one, I want it to stick out far so it will take down whats in front of me before it's to late. It's practical if your using it as a brush guard but if your just going for look then no it's prob not the best looking thing you can get.

Jeepoffroad04 09-17-2010 09:33 PM

im thinking about getting the smittybilt xrc front bumper myself its a great price and its a good bumper if ur thinking about getting a winch

lilmatty5dimes 09-18-2010 09:26 PM

after looking at this post i was like a kid in a candy shop and checked out ebay and found this bumper. looks pretty close to the one up top. it's only $145+ $49 shipped.
